Römer-Lippe-Route, Detmold - Xanten

History in flux: the Römer-Lippe route replaced the well-known Roman route in spring 2013. The new cycle path with the subtitle 'History in the River' combines water adventure and Roman culture on the longest river in North Rhine-Westphalia - the Lippe. From the Hermann Monument near Detmold you cycle 295 km through the Teutoburg Forest, Sauerland and Münsterland as well as the Ruhr Metropolis to the Lower Rhine in the Roman town of Xanten. Roman camps, green meadow landscapes, historically charming inner cities and numerous exciting sights await cyclists on their tour. In addition, thematic loops complement the main route.
