The Redemption of the Brahman by Richard Garbe is a book that shakes the very roots of Indian culture and tradition. For this reason alone, it is comparable to most other path breaking work of fiction across the world. Set in the caste ridden backdrop of Benaras in the northern part of the sub-continent, this story unravels the lives of Krishnadas, his daughter Gopa and the main protagonist, Ramchandra.
