Legends of King Arthur and His Knights

Complete and unabridged, with 43 full-page plates by Richard Ansdell, Joseph Noel Paton and John Gilbert. The Arthurian story told straight through for readers who want the shape of it without Malory's fifteenth-century prose - the sword, the fellowship, the Grail, the last battle. Knowles made his version in 1862 and dedicated it to Tennyson, who was writing the Idylls at the same time and became his friend. Forty-three plates, among them Rossetti and John Duncan, carry the mood of the tale from ruined chapels to moorland and the Blessed Damozel.
