Aircraft Boys of Lakeport

Complete and unabridged, with 51 full-page plates by James McNeill Whistler, Albert Bierstadt and Franz de Paula Ferg. The Lakeport boys come into an old aviator's biplane, learn to fly it and find rivals who prefer sabotage to engineering. Stratemeyer's Lakeport series moved the same set of boys through motoring, baseball, rowing and finally flight, following whatever was new. The aviation detail is of 1912 and the mystery is worked out fairly, which the series did not always bother to do. Fifty-one plates after Homer, Inness and others follow the same turn from weather to work that carries the boys from the lake to open air.
