Bantu Beliefs and Magic

Kikuyu and Kamba belief recorded by a colonial officer who spent thirty years in the country and asked rather than assumed - the oaths, the clans, the medicine men and the ceremonies. Hobley's notes remain a source for East African ethnography. This edition is bound with a gallery of 43 plates of painting, among them works by Ary Scheffer, Camille Pissarro and Theodore Gericault, and includes 16 in-text illustrations restored and coloured for this volume.
