Talking Thrush, and Other Tales from India

Indian village tales - the talking thrush, the jackal who outwits everyone, the tiger who is fooled twice - taken down in the districts by a man who spent his career in the Indian civil service and collected as he went. This edition binds 43 plates of Indian painting with the tales, among them works by Nainsukh, Govardhan and Raja Deen Dayal, alongside 17 illustrations restored and coloured for this volume.
