Potter's Story, A Novel

He came home to ask his father's forgiveness. He was a year too late. At twelve, Jonathan ran from his father's pottery wheel and stowed away on a ship to Crete. Six years later, he returns to Caesarea a master bowmaker, carrying a speech he has rehearsed across the sea. The studio is silent. The wheel is still. Amos, Caesarea's most celebrated potter, is dead. What he left his son is a clay box, a journal, and one word etched beneath the lid: Truth. Reading it will take Jonathan across a Judea restless under Roman rule, and toward a secret his father kept all of Jonathan's life. Along the way he will meet a winemaker who buried a son, a slave who saved his life, and the followers of a Rabbi whose teaching changed his father while he was gone. The Potter's Story is a novel of fathers and sons, of clay and wood, and of the things we run from that were only ever being offered. For readers of Ben-Hur and The Robe. A free Journal Companion with 26 reflection prompts is available from the author.
