Jingwei Fills up the Sea

Jingwei was the daughter of Shennong, the Yan Emperor in ancient Chinese mythology. She drowned when she was playing in the East China Sea. Jingwei turned into a bird and filled the sea day by day, showing a spirit of unyielding and resistance. The story not only reflects human's awe of the sea and smallness and fragility in front of the nature, but also expresses the ancient people's desire to fight against the sea, dreaming to conquer and transform the nature.
