The introduction situates the adopted research profile against current theories and interpretative trends. Krystyna Bartol is Professor of Classics at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań. She has published widely on Greek lyric poetry, especially on elegy and iambus, as well as on Greek Imperial literature. She co-authored with Jerzy Danielewicz the first ever Polish translation of Athenaeus (2010).Jerzy Danielewicz, Professor Emeritus at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, has published extensively on Greek lyric poetry of the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. He is also the author of the book The Metres of Greek Lyric Poetry. Problems of Notation and Interpretation (1996).Contributors are: Krystyna Bartol, Ewen Bowie, Jerzy Danielewicz, Richard Hunter, Jan Kwapisz, Laura Miguélez-Cavero, Marco Perale.
