Klara, who is about to turn seven, likes to make her own decisions. It’s not easy because other people also get to decide. Klara lives with foster mom Nilla, while her mom sleeps in a hospital, her dad in another place, and little sister Lena somewhere else. This was not something Klara decided.
Klara hasn’t seen Lena in a very long time and wonders what she looks like now. People say that the birthday child gets to decide, so if she throws a party, maybe Lena will come! It’s not easy and besides, there seem to be so many party rules that Klara isn’t sure of. But Klara’s party chaos becomes the perfect party in Klara’s resourceful way.
