    I'll have to admit that I didn't love this book as much as the first one, "The Nature of Things". The only reason for this is that I'm not so fond of the time for the Crusades, whereas I love the legend of Arthur and Camelot, which we read about in the first book. But Merlin is in both books and he's a fascinating character, although he's very grumpy in this story. 😉 Without diminishing anyone's beliefs I truly like Merlin's view of religion. He's got a good foundation for his allegations about religion being destructive in many ways, and I think it was even more evident during the time of the Crusades.

    It's remarkable that Merlin's magic is believed to come from Satan and is strictly forbidden, whilst those men of the Church who possess magic has been given it from God to use as they see fit... *hypocrites* 🙄

    I'm looking forward to reading the third book, where Merlin will be back to protect Elizabeth I!
