He was awarded the Johns Hopkins - International Injury Research Unit (JH-IIRU) and Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) award in 2020 and was nominated for the Global Road Safety Leadership Program, Baltimore in the same year. He has guided 7 Ph.D. dissertations and has 4 scholars under his guidance at present. Prof. Prasad has carried out seven externally-funded research and development projects as Principal Investigator and is currently associated with 2 ongoing projects. He played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) - Center of Excellence in Urban Transport.
