Riders of Chaos

The storm begins with the ringing of church bells.Cast back into the living world from the void between life and death, Wanda returns carrying the soul of a Nazi war criminal. Once consumed by hatred, she is now little more than a pawn in the hands of Didiubas, an ancient demon of chaos who craves vengeance against the woman who defeated him. That woman is Ankerita Leighton.Born in Tudor England and preserved for centuries by a witch's enchanted potion, Ankerita exists between the natural and supernatural worlds. She alone can see the creatures gathering in the shadows—and she knows the bells herald something far worse than a single demon's revenge.Didiubas is awakening the Twelve Horsemen of Chaos. The ancient Four have become Twenty, each embodying one of humanity's greatest failings: Pollution, Deceit, Climate, Stupidity, Plague, Retribution, and others whose influence reaches into governments, disasters and the minds of ordinary people. One by one they emerge, pushing civilisation towards collapse. To stop them, Ankerita must form an unlikely alliance with Genet, the Tudor witch whose magic both cursed and saved her, and the legendary Owain Ddantgwynn, one of the historical figures who inspired the Arthurian legends. Together they stand against a darkness determined to remake the world.Yet the greatest threat may also be its greatest hope.Although Wanda possesses terrifying supernatural powers, her return from limbo has stripped away much of the cruelty that once defined her. As Didiubas manipulates her into unleashing catastrophe, fragments of conscience begin to emerge. Torn between vengeance and redemption, she must decide whether to become the destroyer of humanity—or the one person capable of preventing its end.As ancient magic collides with modern fears, the fate of the world will depend on whether redemption is stronger than hatred... before the final Horseman rides. The thrilling fourth novel in the Ankerita supernatural horror series.
