Hour Hand

When Bellhaven's Founders' Day Auction comes to The Curious Clockwork for the first time, antique shop owner Penny Reed wants everything to go perfectly. Instead, the preview ends with the hired auction consultant dead behind the staging table, and Detective Mike Russell giving Penny until the crime scene unit arrives to prove her apprentice didn't do it.The trouble is, nothing about the timeline adds up. Three witnesses swear by the clock nearest the body, but Penny, who's spent her whole life reading her grandfather's clocks by their pendulums instead of their faces, knows that particular clock is lying. Somewhere between a blackmailed committee chair, an appraiser running a secret scheme, and a grieving son who donated his father's prized chronometer, someone in this room reset the hands to buy themselves an alibi. With the clock, literally, ticking down to a hard deadline, Penny has to catch a killer who understands this shop's clocks almost as well as she does, before the truth gets locked out of reach for good.
