Rising

Glasgow, 1976. The shipyards are dying, the bills are mounting, and Calum Strachan needs work. Then a stranger offers him twenty-seven pounds a day to build a tower on the banks of the Clyde. No one knows what it is for. No one can explain the black stone. And after the evening bell, no one is meant to answer when the tower calls their name.As the structure rises, men vanish. The river gives up secrets it has kept since 1898. And Calum learns that the thing beneath Glasgow offers the grieving what they want most — provided they agree to the price.Because some bargains are built to last forever. And sometimes the bravest thing a working man can do is put down his tools.
