All I Want Is a Picture of You

When Blondie exploded onto the music scene in New York City’s Lower East Side in the mid-1970s, they were a rarity: a punk band led by a woman, the now-legendary Debbie Harry. Becoming a regular at CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City, the band opened for acts such as David Bowie and Iggy Pop before becoming a worldwide sensation in their own right. And through it all, photographer Bob Gruen was there, documenting it with his camera. Rapture: Photographing Blondie features hundreds of Gruen’s stunning photographs of the iconic band, from their punk beginnings to their mainstream success in the 1980s and up to their most recent tour across the US. Packed with rare and never-before-seen images, as well as some of the most iconic pictures taken of the band, this is a unique look at Debbie, Chris, Clem, and the band as they ushered in the new wave of American rock. Featuring a foreword by Debbie Harry and insightful interviews with Bob Gruen throughout, Rapture is the definitive companion to and ultimate celebration of the band’s influential career.
