Made in the Eternal City over a week, ROMA AMOR is composed of point-and-shoot drawings made in cafes, hotels, museums, and restaurants in Rome. A continuation of McGregor's travel series -- previously The Greece Notebook (hyper hypo 2023), Room Service (Paragon, 2024), Memories of Hydra (hyper hypo 2025) -- ROMA AMOR focuses solely on the sights, spirits and cultural relics eternal city. The book represents an essential part of the artist’s practice, when he is away from his studio. Sketchbooks and loose pieces of hotel stationery become the main outlets for new ideas and observations. ROMA AMOR continues the artist’s proactive approach of publishing site specific sketchbooks, in full, which provide a peek into his work outside the studio.
