This is a unique text that explores quantum-like modelling frameworks that connect quantum mechanics with cognitive science and consciousness studies to propose a new ontological framework that transcends traditional boundaries between physics, philosophy, and cognitive science. The book develops along two complementary paths. First, it explores quantum-like modelling, an exciting emerging field where researchers apply logical and mathematical structures from quantum mechanics and information theory to cognitive modelling and decision science. Second, it investigates the profound links between quantum science and consciousness studies, incorporating insights from advanced mathematical frameworks such as category theory. By synthesizing these two approaches, the authors propose a novel framework termed ''quantum-like reality'' that moves beyond pragmatic modelling to offer deeper ontological thinking that can enrich both foundational understanding and applied research. This will be an interesting read for students and researchers working at the intersection of quantum physics, cognitive science, and consciousness studies.

This collection showcases experiences from research and field projects in climate change adaptation on the African continent. It includes a set of papers presented at a symposium held in Addis Abeba in February 2016, which brought together international experts to discuss “fostering African resilience and capacity to adapt.” The papers introduce a wide range of methodological approaches and practical case studies to show how climate change adaptation can be implemented in regions and countries across the continent. Responding to the need for more cross-sectoral interaction among the various stakeholders working in the field of climate change adaptation, the book fosters the exchange of information on best practices across the African continent.

Satellite remote sensing for Earth science data has been rapidly expanding during the last decade. Volume 1 of this two volume monograph covers missions/sensors, such as Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS), Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), and Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU). It also discusses the NPOESS and NPP missions. Emphasis was placed on the recently launched Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board of both Terra and Aqua. Some key MODIS science team members were invited to contribute several chapters. The core of this monograph arose from the workshop for Earth Science Satellite Remote Sensing held at George Mason University (GMU) in October 2002. Both volumes are designed to give scientists and graduate students with limited remote sensing background a thorough introduction to current and future NASA, NOAA and other Earth science remote sensingmissions.

Earth science satellite remote sensing has been rapidly expanding during the last decade. Volume 2 of this two volume monograph provides information on the Earth science remote sensing data information and data format such as HDF-EOS, and tools. It evaluates the current data processing approaches and introduces data searching and ordering from different public domains. Further it explores the remote sensing and GIS migration products and WebGIS applications. The core of this book arose from the workshop for Earth Science Satellite Remote Sensing held at George Mason University (GMU) in October 2002. Both volumes are designed to give scientists and graduate students with limited remote sensing background a thorough introduction to current and future NASA, NOAA and other Earth science remote sensing.

Scientists and managers alike need timely, cost-effective, and technically appropriate fire-related information to develop functional strategies for the diverse fire communities. "Remote Sensing Modeling and Applications to Wildland Fires" addresses wildland fire management needs by presenting discussions that link ecology and the physical sciences from local to regional levels, views on integrated decision support data for policy and decision makers, new technologies and techniques, and future challenges and how remote sensing might help to address them. While creating awareness of wildland fire management and rehabilitation issues, hands-on experience in applying remote sensing and simulation modeling is also shared. This book will be a useful reference work for researchers, practitioners and graduate students in the fields of fire science, remote sensing and modeling applications.
