Quantum Flux Parametron(QFP) is a Josephson junction device which uses the polarities of a unit of quantum flux to represent a bit of binary information. The low power consumption and the inductive nature of signal transfer of QFP promise the realizability of a highly integrated Josephson Supercomputer. The miniaturization and the inductively connected circuits pose new challenges and problems to the designers of such a computer system. This volume contains five papers which provide detailed illustrations of the essential problems in the design of Josephson Supercomputers.The problems include (i) the three-dimensional packaging problems in the highly integrated system, (ii) the detection of trapped magnetic quanta, (iii) the computation of three-dimensional inductance and (iv) the elimination or alleviation of various internal and external operational problems of QFP arising from the limitation of the current fabrication technology as well as the inherent problems of direct coupling of QFP

Supercomputing is a strategic tool for the future. These proceedings examine the most recent advances in effective applications of supercomputing and offer provocative visions of the future. Special focus is given to the spread of applications in both the public and commercial sectors where supercomputing is being increasingly embraced as the ultimate competitive tool in the global arena.

This volume reports new developments on work in the Quantum Flux Parametron (QFP) project. It makes complete a series on Josephson Supercomputers, which includes four earlier volumes, also published by World Scientific. QFP technology has great potential especially in the design of computer architecture. It is regarded as being able to go beyond the horizon of current technology, and is a leading direction for the advancement of computer technology in the next decade.

The “Fuzzy Explosion” emanating from Japan has compelled more people than ever to ponder the meaning and potential of fuzzy engineering. Scientists all over are now beginning to harness the power of fuzzy recognition and decision-making — reminescent of the way the human mind works — in computer applications.In this book a blue-ribbon list of contributors discusses the latest developments in topics such as possibility logic programming, truth-valued flow inference, fuzzy neural-logic networks and default knowledge representation. This volume is the first in a series aiming to document advances in fuzzy set theory and its applications.

This proceedings collects papers in the areas of computer algorithms, databases and parallel processing. The papers were presented by very prominent computer scientists from Japan and Singapore invited to a three days JSPS-NUS seminar held in Singapore on Dec '94.
