Babywearing and In-arms Carrying explores the historical background, cultural variations, and physiology of carrying. It gives you practical tips, personal stories from parents, and thorough wrap instructions. It serves both as a hands-on manual for finding a comfortable way to carry your child – using a wrap, soft structured carrier, or simply in your arms – and as an in-depth exploration of the topic. In short, it’s for anyone who has carried a child, is currently babywearing, wants to babywear, or is simply interested in babywearing and close, responsive parenting. Babywearing and In-arms carrying is written by babywearing consultant, doula, and certified breastfeeding specialist and nurse assistant Ulrika Casselbrant, who has also authored books on elimination communication, toilet training, and breastfeeding in the NICU. This book is a heartfelt contribution to the discussion around a child’s fundamental need to be held close. It draws on academic research, the author’s experience as a babywearing consultant, her own and other parents’ experiences, and a keen sensitivity to young children's communication.
