This groundbreaking guide to Ashtanga yoga, by two of the world's leading teachers, Manju Jois and Greg Tebb, is the only book on yoga you'll ever need. The Ashtanga system, which is in the Hatha yoga tradition, was passed down by Sri T. Krishnamacharya and is now practiced by thousands of people around the world. Traditionally in Ashtanga, there are three main sequences of postures: Primary (Yoga Chikitsa), Intermediate (Nadi Sodhana), and Advanced Series (Sthira Bhaga). The traditional system of Ashtanga is based on Patanjali's philosophy of "eight limbs" of yoga. Students practice a sequence of poses linked with Vinyasa (breath movement) using Ujjayi Pranayama (deep rhythmic breathing), Bandha (muscular and energetic locks), and Drishti (meditative gaze points). This system has often been misunderstood in the west as it has been taught as a powerful form of exercise with little emphasis on the therapeutic benefits. Finally, two of the world's leading Ashtanga teachers team up to demystify the practice and its teachings, bringing to light the role of yoga in long-term health, the benefits of each pose as well as illustrating safe adjustments for poses in each series.

Crescent Moon Friends introduces the reader to two best friends Amelia and Aisha. While the pair is from Canada and Afghanistan, the girls reconcile their differences through exploration of the values they share. This book initiates a family conversation about Islam, explores tradition and language, and brings the girls closer together as a result. The book can be used as a teaching tool to help children understand the cultural backgrounds of others, and to create a warm environment for refugees resettling in Atlantic Canada from the Middle East. This picture book is for both non-Muslims who are living in the West, and Muslims who are living outside their home countries. The focus of the book is on tradition, not religion, it also captures the significance of Islam. This is a valuable title for library and classroom use.

Sometimes, things in life don't go the way we want them to, and that stinks. But this book isn't about those kinds of stinky things, rotten as they may be. This book is about nature's love of all things smelly - on our planet and beyond. Why? Because they're fun and kind of gross - yet strangely beautiful, and they smell the way they do for important reasons.Humans may not have the best sense of smell in the animal kingdom, but we do alright. In fact, scientists are discovering more about our sniffer abilities all the time. Smells can be refreshing and soothing, or they can warn us of danger. Smells can make our stomachs hungry, or they can make our stomachs heave. Smells can even help us remember people and events from long ago. Impressive, right? But you're probably here for the "gross details" previously mentioned.Okay, plug your nose, turn that page, and let's dig into Things That Stink!Disclaimer: Unfortunately, this book does not include scratch-and-sniff stickers, but get ready to make some sense out of scents.Author/illustrator Judith Graves takes readers on a humorous, informative, and stinking cute exploration of ten Things That Stink! on our planet and beyond.
