“Stop trying to be amazing, start being useful.”

Jay Baer

If the thought of trying to be amazing or brilliant doesn’t do it for you, aim to be useful instead.

Is the world making good use of you?

After thirty years with this question in his head, Jos Burton decided to make himself useful and have a go at answering the question.

Be Useful is a compilation of ideas, models and insights that the author has found useful in his thirty years working with people in Learning & Development across a wide range of organisations.

Being useful is a simple way to find meaning and purpose in your life and work, through service to others.

This book will hopefully challenge you to think about your life and what you're making from it. It's this year's must have self-development title.

A selection of poetry and prose from 50 years of writing.  A unique, observational view of life in a quirky and sometimes whimsical manner.  Here Tony gives us a brief glimpse into his mind and the humour that shapes his life as he shares his deepest thoughts, loves and fears.

Looking at life, death and love in his own special way, Tony has captured his own personal journey and those who have inspired him to write in this summary of half a century.

In his own words Bob talks of his early life, his path to becoming a professional jump jockey and how it felt being at the top of his game only to have it come crashing down with a life-threatening diagnosis. The depths of despair going through the radical new cancer treatment he was offered and the heights of joy with that famous Grand National victory. This new biography also looks at the whirlwind adventure his life has been since that glorious spring day at Aintree and examines the tremendous fund raising efforts of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.

Today Bob is the face of that Trust, the UK’s most successful small cancer fund that has been responsible for raising almost £15Million, money which has allowed research efforts that have all but eradicated testicular cancer death and furthered new research enquiries into prostate cancer.

For the first time Bob shares his thoughts on his life so far, the highs, the lows, injuries, illness and of course just what it felt like to win ‘the ultimate test of horse and rider.’
