Mark De'Lisser's striking debut poetry collection, Ashes to the breeze, heralds the arrival of an extraordinary new talent. The poems are an evocative reminder of what it is to be human, to love, to lose, to grow, to find courage, to overcome hurt and pain, and to recognise the fragility of existence. The collection is an exquisite tribute to human nature's powers of renewal. It is a heartfelt exploration of the transformational powers of acceptance and letting go. Speaking to both the personal and the universal, the poems take us on a healing journey that often delves into the synergies between human emotions and the natural world as a way of reflecting on our innate need for genuine connection and love.In the relentless pace of our modern world, Ashes to the breeze asks us to pause and contemplate the mysteries and miracles that are present all around us, and to reimagine our place in the story of life.

But when secrets are uncovered, will understanding turn to misunderstanding? Will two souls be shattered this time?Absorbing, moving, witty and profound, A Man of Understanding is a beautifully-told story of the search for a higher understanding of the self and others, interlaced with poetry, philosophy and love.

In 1950s Florence, there is an old saying: 'If you are born beautiful, you are not born poor.' The name Castellani ranks highly in the order of good-looking Florentine families. Lorenzo Castellani seems to have everything. Handsome, with a keen brain, he begins as a student of Renaissance art at the University of Florence, at a time when art history is still a subject for gentlemen, not pastry cooks such as his adoring family. But good looks and charms can sometimes turn to curses, as the Castellani family is soon to discover, when Lorenzo is forced to flee his beloved Florence for a very different life in Chicago. Moving between Florence and America, the novel follows the fortunes and misfortunes of three generations of the Castellani family, as each new generation brings with it new and passionate challenges, culminating in a sin so great that it is hard to see how the family will ever recover. An intriguing and reflective novel, an exploration of family loyalties and tensions, truth and lies, justice, and the conflicts and moral dilemmas at play behind an aesthetically-pleasing facade.

When a painting of a beautiful woman disappears from a wall at Balmoral Castle, the consequences are far-reaching: a tragic death, a search for truth and motive, a fraught reconciliation between father and son. Who is responsible? The rare and elusive fish that inhabit the river? Or is the toss of the King's coin the ultimate arbiter? In this lyrical tale that moves between the royal residences, the Amazon rainforest and the meeting rooms of Gamblers Anonymous, the concept of chance - random events and their impact on our lives - is explored through a series of related happenings, with very unexpected results.

Believe in Them is the first-ever memoir of Luma Mufleh, the widely honoured founder and director of Fugees Family, a non-profit organisation devoted to child survivors of war. She tells her extraordinary story with the moving, inspirational force with which she delivered her TED talk, viewed over 1.8 million times. Herself a refugee, Luma fled from her native Jordan to the U.S. in fear for her life if she continued living in Jordan as a gay Muslim, leaving behind a family who had trouble accepting her when she came out as gay. One day, while driving through Georgia she took a wrong turn and noticed some boys playing football in the street. She discovered that they were refugees. The Fugees football team was created. Soon she was not just 'coach' but also friend and mentor to these children and their families. As time passed, it became clear to Luma that the Fugees needed more than just football coaching from her - they needed support, encouragement and education. "Don't feel sorry for them," were Mufleh's grandmother's words about refugee children to her young granddaughter. "Believe in them." And that is precisely what Mufleh has done.
