Foreword by Sir Paul Smith - legendary fashion designer and lifelong cycling fanatic. Jacques Anquetil is one of the all-time greats. The first five-time Tour de France winner, the first to repeat Fausto Coppi’s Giro d’Italia-Tour double, the ultimate time triallist – a great champion but a mystery as a man. Anquetil was never what he seemed, Cycling Legends 03 Jacques Anquetil lifts the lid on the man as well as the sporting icon that was Jacques Anquetil. Using first-hand accounts from many who knew him best, we reveal the truth about the man who made his own rules. Uncompromising yet fragile, brave yet needy, logical but superstitious, Jacques Anquetil was complicated. The personification of 1960s style and culture, his friends were film and music stars, but he was a country boy who loved to be alone in nature. Maître Jacques, as he was called, is a puzzle solved by reading Cycling Legends 03 Jacques Anquetil.

Cycling Legends 02 TI-Raleigh relates first hand experiences of many team members, some of their contemporaries, and people who were involved in the backroom and on the material side. With the help of Post himself, who I met and interviewed a few years before his death in 2011, Cycling Legends 02 TI-Raleigh is the definitive story of the team written in English for the very first time. It is a story of relentless drive, personal ambition, group cooperation and technical excellence. Everybody in this team mattered, from Post and the riders to the Raleigh staff working on the team bikes in the UK. All were members of TI-Raleigh, they all won the Tour de France and many other big races together, as one.
