What was the Sphinx for, and what is the Sphinx? The Sphinx's body is not a lion, but another creature. The head was re-carved, and the Pharaoh's face cannow be identified. There is a burial chamber inserted beneath the waist ofthe Sphinx. 280 years' worth of published accounts of eyewitnesses who saw the chamber, all of them published herein full, prove its existence. This is the longest recorded survivalof folklore in world history, a tale which survived with its essentialfacts intact for three thousand years. The Nile in ancient times lapped near the feet of the Sphinx, and the Sphinx was like an island surrounded by waterfilling 'the Sphinx Pit' where it sits now. The photographicevidence of sluices for controlling the inflow of the waterare published. The water erosion is fully explained.Evidence published here proves that the Sphinx is part of aunified design with the three main pyramids of Giza. It was'the guardian' of Giza. The three pyramids and the Sphinxwere all conceived as a single complex. The Sphinx was originally a crouching figure of the doggod Anubis, traditionally the guardian of the dead in ancientEgypt.Every published account of the Sphinx from Roman timesto 1837 is published in the back of the book, most translatedfrom foreign languages. An exciting new perspective on the origins of Greek civilisation. The pyramids of Greece pose one of the greatest mysteries of Greek archaeology. The region of the Peloponnese which once constituted the prehistoric Kingdom of Argos, nearly a thousand years before the Trojan War, contained several modest-sized limestone pyramids. The earliest surviving mention of one of these is in an ancient text by Pausanius in the 2nd century AD. In the 19th century five were standing. Today the ruins of two still remain. Now using modern dating methods we know that they were constructed between 2500 and 2400 BC and that they are related to the prehistoric site of Lerna near Argos, where Hercules in mythology slew the Lernaean Hydra monster. Images dating from the late 18th century up until the present day are shown, with a summary of the many books and articles about them since the early 19th century. The unravelling of ancient Greek historical and mythological texts reveals that these monuments were built by immigrants from the city of Chemmis near the coast of the Egyptian Delta led by the mythological figure known as ‘Danaus’. Their mini-pyramids acted as symbolic statements of ‘who we are and where we came from’ by the new arrivals.

Brand new English translations of this classic cycle of poems by Rilke dedicated to Orpheus

Original woodcut depictions were first published in 1483, and since it was only 83 years after Chaucer's death, we can regard them as highly authentic.

Originally published in 1929 in Germany, it was one of the many books banned by the Nazis, and all copies which could be found at the time were burnt in bonfires by the Gestapo. It has been out of print since its original publication, with few copies having escaped destruction.

In english for the first time, this meticulously detailed account of the Nazi 'Deep State' by one of its leading counterintelligence chiefs reveals the deepest secrets, and names foreign Gestapo agents whose identities have never before been public knowledge. Heinrich Pfeifer, the 'man of a thousand names', was one of the strangest spy chiefs of the Nazi SD (Security Police of the SS and Gestapo). He reported directly to Himmler's chief deputy, Reinhard Heydrich. He accomplished many daring and incredible missions in various countries. Heydrich insisted that Pfeifer work under a pseudonym even in his own office. And he had at least twenty aliases, including 'Heinrich Orb', the name he used for this book.Pfeifer joined the Nazi spy service as a German nationalist and Catholic before Himmler and Heydrich had moved to Berlin. He later became disgusted by the anti-Semitism, the concentration camps, the murders and corruption, and what he called the 'satanic' character of Heydrich. He defected in September 1939 and lived in fear of his life until his assassination in 1949.Before his death, Pfeifer left this priceless record of the mechanism of evil of the Nazi Deep State, its methods, its procedures, and its zoo of crazed personnel, all of whom he knew intimately as his own working colleagues. He reveals their peculiarities and personal characteristics, and even their private nicknames for each other.Pfeifer's account was not illustrated and Eglantyne has added more than 250 photos, many of them never before seen, presented with extended commentary.

Class Reunion is a short novel published early in Werfel's career, and, as was usual with his works, caused a sensation. It is a savagely satirical, powerful and heart-breaking story about a class reunion in Vienna with revelations about the events of the mens' youths and the lasting consequences of their actions when young.
