Our understanding of terrorism since the events of September 11th 2001 has usually been channelled through the two dimensional lens of religion and politics. This important new work contributes a richer understanding of terrorism by examining a third dimension of individual and group psychology and demonstrates how insights garnered from the human psyche may be translated into more effective public policy.

This book compiles the papers presented at an International Conference, "Pluralism of Sciences: The Psychoanalytic Method between Clinical, Conceptual and Empirical Research" in 2002. It provides the variety and diversity of psychoanalytic research cultures in different psychoanalytic societies.

Psychoanalysis has long thrived in Latin America. Like the rest of the psychoanalytic world, our Latin American colleagues are diverse in their thinking, but there is nevertheless a distinct cultural voice with which they speak. Unfortunately, language barriers have interfered with the communication of this unique and highly sophisticated way of thinking to colleagues around the world. This stimulating new volume goes a long way to fill this void by presenting a collection of essays that present Latin American psychoanalysis at its best. An added treat is the cross-cultural dialogue provided by commentators for each chapter from other psychoanalytic cultures. I highly recommend this exciting new contribution to both candidates and experienced analysts.

This book examines Freud's use and definition of interpretation as a therapeutic tool as well as views it from the philosophical perspective of meaning and its definition. In addition, it examines the later developments made by Klein and Bion.

From Impression to Inquiry is a tribute to the work of Robert Wallerstein and is a homage to his exceptional attitude regarding the problem of agreements, divergences, and uncertainties in psychoanalysis.

This book provides contemporary perspectives concerning Freud's fundamental assumptions on the unconscious. It presents some of the original theoretical developments and the cogitations on the unconscious, from various world regions and different thought orientations.

This book is a collection of "stories", and just as the Stories of the Dreaming act as a container of experiences for the indigenous people, it attempts to be a container for experiences that had not had enough exposure in psychoanalytic literature.

This book presents the general framework of the psychoanalytic approach to groups, describing the main elements of a psychoanalytic model of the group and of the subject within the group. It describes the various problems posed by extending the field of investigation and practices of psychoanalysis.

This book presents scholarly writings on psychic boundaries. It explores one of the extreme pathological conditions from the complex relationship between Holocaust survivor parents and their offspring: the breaking of boundaries. The book adds the dimension of time to the concept of boundaries.

This book focuses on consciousness in psychoanalysis. It deals with judgement, the psychic activity that Sigmund Freud already called primary judgement in his "Project for a Scientific Psychology", and then with secondary judgement.

This book offers us the wisdom of a distinguished group of international psychoanalysts about supervision and other aspects of the psychoanalytic training experience. It serves as a stimulus to our thinking about the most important aspect of psychoanalytic education.

This book deals with affects and memories from extreme traumatization of Jewish survivors, who were children themselves during the Holocaust, and teenagers who survived the genocide in Rwanda in 1994, presenting an illustration of how complex affect regulating is for traumatized individuals.
