This technical volume is addressed to advanced treble recorder players looking for repertoire that is suited for consistent work on the foundations of their instrumental and musical abilities. In accordance with the original literature for the treble recorder, the exercises are mainly tailored to this instrument. Some technical chapters can be practised on both the treble and descant recorder (with transposed fingering). The term 'technical' must not be misunderstood here: ultimately, the exercises aim at artistic expression, emotion, and tonal interpretation.Instrumentation:treble recorder (descant recorder)

Concentration on individual aspects of playing the bassoon will make it easier to identify and correct errors and imprecision. By working steadily through these exercises you can acquire a basic technique that will enable you to tackle difficult passages in the bassoon repertoire. Such meticulous attention to detail will help you achieve the freedom to follow your intuition in a spontaneous musical performance. Besetzung:bassoon

Following the very successful piano method published in two volumes between 1958 and 1962, the three-volume "European Piano Method" represents a new textbook which takes into account the development of modern piano pedagogy.7 Winning Features of the Emonts Method:1 Songs from many European countries2 Pupils begin to play without music notation3 Improvisation and playing on the black keys4 Development of listening skills and aural awareness5 Simple and logical learning structure6 Lots of duets7 Attractive full-colour illustrationsVolume 1The most natural way of creating and nurturing the relationship of a child with an instrument is to stimulate and encourage the child to find on the keyboard, and to play by ear, all the tunes he or she has so far assimilated. Not only children's songs or folk songs are suitable for this but also other melodies that may be heard at home, at school, in church, on the radio and on television. The natural progression, from singing and listening to playing, forms the foundation for the development of listening ability and musicality. During a lifetime with an instrument one should always try to replay on it everything that one has heard. The child should, at the same time, be made familiar with the whole keyboard by touch as well as by ear, from the lowest register to the highest. the young player should already have a feeling of contact with the keyboard before piano playing is combined with the complicated process of reading music. Playing only on the black keys to begin with will offer a particularly good opportunity to grasp the arrangements of the black keys (literally) 'grasping'. For improvised melodies, too, the pentatonic scale formed by the black keys is easier to handle at the beginning stages than the diatonic scale of the white keys. For this reason, an introductory section 'Playing with the Black Keys' has been included. Here the teacher, through such material, should encourage the beginner to become familiar with the keyboard.Another advantage in beginning this way lies in the fact that training the functions of the motorial system does not only start within the narrow stretch of the fingers but with the larger playing apparatus of the arms and the whole body. In this way tension can be avoided. The suggestions for improvisation and song accompaniement given at the beginning (on the 'yellow' pages) should not necessarily be dealt with all at once before the chapter 'Playing from Printed Music' but should rather be gradually incorporated into lessons. Here, the printed music is intended primarily for the teacher who will play through the exercises. The pupil plays from memory rather than from the book.Instrumentation:piano

In Vol. 2, the tonal range is extended to a'', including a few semitones. The works are rhythmically more complex and, with regard to fingering technique and melodic expression, more demanding than the pieces in Vol. 1. Besetzung:descant recorder and piano

For the first time, all available sources of Engelbert Humperdinck's fairy-tale opera, Hansel und Gretel, have been consulted in the preparation of the present new edition. In evaluating them it became clear that a great number of corrections needed to be taken into account, for which the composer was indebted to the experiences of conductors known to him - Richard Strauss (Weimar), Hermann Levi (Munich) and Ludwig Rottenberg (Frankfurt) - as well as hiw own insight. In this way, a critical edition has been produced which not only offers an Urtext entirely faithful to the sources, but also provides important new improvements, tested on the stage an approved by the composer. Where, previously, slight alterations have unquestionably been necessary in order to prevent the vocal lines from being covered by the large-scale orchestration, convincing and authentic solutions are now available. Also, for the first time, the work's 'Desau-Finale' has been published, which Humperdinck composed for the production by Cosima Wagner. The edition is part of the ABRSM syllabus (grades 6,8).

Marcel Moyse has become one of the legendary great flautists of the 20th century. As a pupil of Taffanel and successor to Gaubert at the Conservatoire National de Paris, he stands in the direct tradition of the ‘French School’.Following his early studies on technique and tone, as well as his Golden Age for the Flutist and Tone Development through Interpretation, we are here presenting his last book of studies (1974) for the first time in a trilingual edition. Here Moyse has set out his pedagogic and artistic experiences in their entirety with the aim of helping not only professional flute players who have little time to practise, but ‘everyone who loves the flute, while not forgetting the music.’Thus this volume is not restricted to technical exercises which often follow traditional patterns (Reichert), but it also aims to improve the basic aspects of flute playing (formation of tone, intonation, articulation, phrasing) using examples selected from the repertoire and in the service of musicality. As is always the case for Moyse, song, the world of music drama, opera is the prime model of expressive performance. Thus in pursuit of his intentions Moyse occasionally offers very detailed comments, especially concerning vibrato, enlivened by his own particular brand of humour.Instrumentation:flute
