In September 2018, Collan Rex, former water polo coach at Parktown Boys High, was found guilty of 144 charges of sexual assault and sentenced to 23 years in prison. He had molested and choked a boarding house full of school boys into silence and shame, leaving behind a trail of broken lives. His response in court? It'd been done to him, in the same way, at the same school. Now the victims, the parents and the abuser tell their stories.

At 25, Alexandria Procter became SA's youngest startup tech wunderkind. During her annual break from UCT in 2018, she came up with the idea for DigsConnect. Deeply affected by the violent student protests which swept university campuses in 2016, Alexandria created a website that would address the tumultuous student housing crisis. DigsConnect has subsequently transformed from being a local student startup, to catapulting into the global fourth industrial revolution. A deeply inspiring story.

Where Rape A South African nightmare introduced strategies for disrupting rape culture at an individual level, Female Fear Factory offers an even bolder vision for collective action against all cultures of sexual violence. Like the previous book on which it builds, Female Fear Factory fuses intellectual rigour and extensive research, written by one of South Africa's keenest minds,  award-winning Professor Pumla Dineo Gqola.

Born Perlé van Schalkwyk, into a strict Jehovah Witness family, after studying drama at Stellenbosch University, Perlé quickly realises that acting is not going to buy her that house on the hill. And so erotic dancing and stripping becomes her modus operandi and GiGi is born. Tales of drugs, murder and porn lace her fascinating life, along with stories of courage and cunning in the sexist underworld. GiGi is a true survivor. Ultimately, this bare all memoir will both titillate and inspire.

Provocative, insightful and brilliantly written by Professor Wahbie Long, Nation on the Couch explores life in our beloved country through the lens of psychoanalysis. By focusing on the idea of a ‘political unconscious’, it argues that there is much to be learnt from excavating the inner life of South Africans, which can illuminate the external problems that beset us from all sides. It will challenge readers to rethink the way we see ourselves, why we do what we do and why we are who we are.

Underpinned by a quest to travel through the ordinary doors of perception, Bamboozled is a deep exploration of self, set in an age of false prophets and confusion. It's her "coming home" from Smacked, in search of joy and freedom. Written in Ferguson's no-holds barred signature style, her latest memoir is about looking for patterns and uncovering answers in a world that's crumbling. It's also about loosening the grip of money and finding magic. Then she rescues a dog who ends up rescuing her.

Following hot on the heels of the bestsellers Sex, Lies & Stellenbosch and Sex, Lies, Declassified, the much-anticipated final instalment in Eva Mazza's “sex-trilogy” promises to be December’s hottest read. Like the most addictive of TV series, Sex, Lies & Alibis, with its many twist and turns will have readers turning pages to discover what finally happens to our heroine, Jen and the rest of the sometimes sexy, and always dysfunctional cast from Stellenbosch, with its penchant for impropriety and unapologetic wealth. By the time Jen gets to the final part of the trilogy, she's discovered that happy endings don’t always come in the form of a man, no matter how good the sex or how exquisite the backdrop. Despite trying to escape her past by flying to Monte Carlo, circumstances beyond her control force her to return to the Cape Winelands. Now it's time for Jen to confront the sex, the lies, the declassified scandals and uncover all the made-up alibis. Deliciously steamy and scandalous.

After matriculating from a top Jewish school, Nikki Munitz finds herself in the clutches of a heroin addiction. She's sent to a remote rehab, run by a pastor who brandishes a tattoo of Satan. There she meets the handsome son of a wealthy Afrikaans family. Lured by the illusion of her ‘happy-ever-after’ she marries him. But the facade soon crumbles. Money is in short supply. Nikki takes on a job at a reputable law firm. Encrypted passwords are entrusted to her. She begins to siphon small, undetectable amounts from trust funds of loyal clients. The amounts increase. Caught red-handed, she's fired. By the time the law catches up with her, Nikki is clean and sober. On the advice of her lawyer who reassures her she will never go to jail, she pleads guilty to all 37 counts of fraud. After a gruelling 2-year court battle, she's found guilty. Fraud is a powerful memoir about a young woman who is forced to face her life of deceit in a prison cell where she ultimately finds her freedom to fly.

In 2003, ten gay men were brutally attacked at Sizzlers, a massage parlour in Sea Point. In a massacre of savage violence, nine of the men lost their lives. Quinton Taylor, the badly wounded sole survivor, managed to identify Adam Woest and Trevor Theys as the two men responsible for what was considered to be one of the worst mass murders in SA. Now Adam Woest is up for parole. For Taylor and those who lost their loved ones, this severe travesty of justice will not happen without a fight.
