In 2014, Carla Chud joined the executive leadership team of her church following a corporate wakeup call: The organization was declining toward a crisis point, and the problem lay with dysfunctional relationships among the leadership. Taking these truths to heart, the leadership team set off on a journey to transform themselves and their culture. With the help of coaching, inner healing, and one another, they identified the powerless dynamics in their thinking and behavior and replaced them with a powerful identity, mindset, and practices. Along the way, they began to establish the core values and practices of a courageous culture that encourages honest communication, healthy feedback and confrontation, dreaming, risk-taking, and vibrant connections. In The Pathway to Powerful, Carla lays out the practical steps of this leadership journey.

This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him (1 John 4:9 NIV). Fathers do things. The Father so loved us that He did something about it-He sent His Son. God has a plan to reveal Himself to the world through fathers and mothers. It is our greatest privilege to follow the example of a perfect Father, in turn, revealing Him to our sons and daughters and leaving a legacy that continues to grow for generations to come. It is time for us to step into our roles as mothers and fathers, demonstrating to the world the things fathers do.

In a culture in which feelings are often valued more than facts, we can find ourselves searching for reasons why our relationships are tumultuous, inconsistent, and incomplete. In this book, we will tackle how to find serenity within ourselves, how to practice healthy romantic relationships and healthy friendships, and also how to harmonize with the institutions that are central to the human experience. With 15 years of ministry experience, including youth, evangelism, and church planting, Joey Furjanic gives his relevant and biblical point of view on a timeless topic: healthy and whole relationships. While people may be complicated or difficult, it is possible to attain real relational health and personal peace by growing higher. For many, it's a good time to dig deeper and rise to a higher level. It's time to level up!

"e;"e; I like a good story well told. That is the reason I am sometimes forced to tell myself."e;"e; Mark Twain. This is the impetus for this book. I'm a story teller. The fact that the stories unveiled here are about professional basketball players and coaches merely raises the level of interest. We are a society that worships at the feet of celebrity. Right or wrong the images and glorification of these celebrities is normally all we are permitted to see. "e;"e;7 Foot Man-Eating Chicken"e;"e; is designed to take the reader a little deeper. To see famous and borderline famous athletes and coaches as real people with real attributes and real flaws. In other words, they are just like us, only a foot or so taller. After all sports were created originally just for exercise. Back in 1891 when Dr. James Naismith invented the game of basketball I suspect he never thought it would become the multi billion "e;"e;Big Business"e;"e; we see today. Certainly the thought of his students playing as a form of "e;"e;Entertainment"e;"e; for anyone but themselves never popped into his mind. Things have clearly morphed into those areas. If someone sees an opportunity to make a little cash off something, there's no harm in that. If you put out a product that is interesting enough so that folks will pay to see it, that's terrific. Some of my observations revolve around the disingenuous way these sporting events are being marketed. We can't even tell where the marketing ends and the games begin. This nicely brings us to the very title of this book. In 1841, P.T. Barnum, who is possibly the greatest showman in our history, purchased Scudder's American Museum. Located in New York City at the corner of Broadway and Ann Street, it was renamed Barnum's American Museum. He owned and operated it until 1865 when it burnt to the ground in one of the most spectacular fires in New York City history. Barnum filled it with many strange exhibits and educational attractions. There were dioramas, panoramas, scientific instruments, modern appliances, a flea circus, a loom operated by a dog, a rifle range, glass blowers, waxworks, Siamese twins, and on and on. It cost 25 cents to get in. Barnum realized that people we lingering too long in the Museum and he needed to "e;"e;turn over"e;"e; the crowd to get some fresh paying customers through the turnstiles. His solution for this was to post signs saying: "e;"e;This way to the Egress!"e;"e; Not knowing that "e;"e;Egress"e;"e; was another word for "e;"e;Exit"e;"e;, people followed the signs to what they assumed was just another tremendous exhibit and found themselves outside. Barnum had another exhibit called the "e;"e;6 Foot Man Eating Chicken!"e;"e; No one could even imagine this. First of all, a 6-foot chicken in and of itself is an attraction. Throw the "e;"e;man-eater"e;"e; angle in there and you've got to go, especially for 25 cents! When the exhibit opened after three months of advertising the line was around the block. One by one, they filed in. Once inside, they found a 6-foot tall man sitting in a chaireating chicken! The people had been snookered. They laughed. Most people don't mind laughing at themselves. Barnum got over on them and they would happily come back, especially for only 25 cents. This "e;"e;snooker"e;"e; reminded me of how professional sports has been "e;"e;snookering"e;"e; the public for some time now. I simply added a foot of height to accommodate for the increased size of an NBA player. Advertise one thing and give 'em something else. The problem is that it's not as funny when the price of taking your family to one of these sporting events no longer costs a quarter and you went expecting to see an actual sporting event. So what's my problem? While I admire the accomplishments of P. T. Barnum, I also realize that he came as advertised: A Showman. He never claimed to be a coach/teacher or an administrator or anything else associated with athletics. When he "e;"e;snookered"e;"e; you, he was doing what he warned

This protocol provides a path out of anxiety and vulnerability into secure relationships and ready resources that allow us to move from surviving the next crisis to managing the next transitions across generations. Life Compass Living believes it is a human right to have the dignity of choice and that plans made in harmony with our Life Compass, described in the book, will enable us all the flourish in every stage of life and manage life transitions with elegance. Life Compass Living enables individuals to create strong support communities that eliminate isolated care, improve medical compliance and outcomes, increase work productivity, and leverage both mainstream and alternative resource options. Equally important, it empowers individuals as consumers of products and services, ensuring they pay only for what they need. This enables those who utilize the Life Compass Living process to work with their Family of Choice and others in the growing Life Compass Living Community to fulfill our mission. We help people flourish in every stage of life, and manage life transitions with elegance. We do that by helping one another create a LIFE COMPASS PLAN to build the lives we want, with the people we want, in the place we want. We help one another put that plan together and find the resources to make it a reality. Why Life Compass Living? The idea of life planning is often viewed as solely an exercise in financial management for your retirement years. In reality, however, it is much more than just financial management. Most retirement plans, if there's even one in place, don't take into account the unexpected emotional and practical costs and of aging and/or unexpected illnesses. Finances are not able to provide a fully human experience at any age. From young children to older adults, the quality of life experience is found in relationships, and a sense of being significant in the place we choose to live. When a person loses their capacity to be who they are, with their people and in a place where they feel safe and at home, they can not thrive. Attempts to secure the future with finances can still leave individuals in despair. Life Compass Living provides a user-friendly process that will help people flourish together at any age and guide a plan that will put the resources in place to fully support the ability to continue flourishing in the second half of life. The protocol is applicable to every life stage and can be used across generations and among friends.

"e;Marketplace leaders are going to be the forerunners in the next great move of God."e;Shawn BolzIn 2018, God gave me an impression that marketplace people are going to be the focus of the next move of God that will bring millions into the Kingdom. He is going to use believers in the marketplace as the front-liners to culture. That means the stakes are really high and the war is very great, so we can't go after this in our own strength, wisdom, or power. We must build with spiritual tools so we can bear natural fruit that has spiritual implications over lives. God has hardwired you to partner with Him and to hear Him in all areas of your life. Hearing God is not just an esoteric or philosophical experience reserved for a church service. Instead, His voice should create faith that can change the metrics of industries, shift the bottom line for the poor, and cause leaders and influencers to wonder about who it is you serve. Your partnership with God should bring solutions for industries that have given up hope of changing or evolving. It should cause big industries to see huge shifts towards a better future. Bob Hasson and Shawn Bolz have come together to help infuse you with hope, truth, and perspective about your God-given role in the marketplace. Whether you own or manage a business, have spent decades in your career, or are simply trying to find value in the work that you do, this book is for you. As you walk this journey with us, you'll have an opportunity to build spiritually driven goals for both your own career as well as the industry you are called to. Throughout the book, we explore real-life examples of what it looks like to hear God and follow His leading within marketplace roles. We also discuss where our understanding of God, Church, and the marketplace has been immature or broken. The goal is that you are empowered to do it differently, getting a greater result in your relationship to God's voice impacting the way you partner to your career.

Like the group of players who stunned the world by upsetting the mighty Soviet Union in the iconic "Miracle Game" at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid in 1980, few gave the Team USA women much of a chance to beat the Canadians in the inaugural women''s tournament in Nagano, Japan, in 1998. After all, Canada''s women had dominated their game for decades, winning every major international tournament until then. But when the Gold Medal game had ended, Team USA was standing atop of the podium after a shocking upset that ignited what many consider to be the greatest rivalry in all of sports.Suddenly, just as young boys were inspired by Mike Eruzione and his American teammates to take up the sport of ice hockey and change the game in the United States, little girls could now look up to captain Cammi Granato and her teammates and be similarly inspired. Now they too could play and compete, skate and shout, "She shoots. . . she scores!"Their story unfolds in dramatic, riveting detail in the pages of this book. It reveals how coach Ben Smith assembled this team, making some critical and controversial roster cuts just days before leaving for Japan. It describes how a shocking comeback in a preliminary round game gave the American women the confidence they desperately needed with a kind of momentum they had never experienced heading into a championship showdown with their archrivals. Through exhaustive interviews with dozens of the participants, it explains how that golden moment catapulted the women on both sides of that rivalry to even greater heights as they continue to crash through glass ceilings, inspiring girls and young women in myriad ways that transcend the game itself.

"Hockey Hall of Fame Coach Scotty Bowman: ''Those four guys, they made all the difference''The Grind Line, featuring some of the most popular athletes in Detroit sports history, is one of the most successful units in the history of the National Hockey League, and without peer among so-called ''fourth'' lines, for those who insist on numbering them. Kris Draper, flanked by Kirk Maltby and Joe Kocur, and later Darren McCarty, deserve their rightful place in Detroit shoulder to shoulder with The Production Line – the most famous line in NHL history: Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay alongside Sid Abel, and later Alex Delvecchio, four men whose numbers hang from the rafters at Hockeytown''s Little Caesars Arena. This book argues – and has the receipts to prove it – that the Grind Line was every bit as important in its era (1997-2009) as the Production Line was in the dynastic 1950s.This is the remarkable story of how the Red Wings acquired all four players, one of them in a trade that cost Detroit $1 – for a player who went on to become only the fifth man to play more than 1,000 games for the club. Another was acquired in a trade that was widely considered a minor-league deal. The other two had to plead their way back to the NHL with Detroit after it appeared their careers were over. One of them had been playing beer-league senior hockey before his second chance, and he made it count by winning three Stanley Cup rings with the team.Bowman, the Hall of Famer widely considered to be the greatest coach in the history of the sport, wrote the foreword to this book. And it''s only fitting since he was most responsible for putting the line together and deploying it with lethal results."
