On December 30, 2007, President Mwai Kibaki was declared the winner of Kenyas presidential election. Within minutes of this declaration, rioting erupted across Kenya, from the coast of the Indian Ocean to the banks of Lake Victoria. These riots lasted two months, claiming the lives of nearly 1500 Kenyans, and leaving more than half a million internally displaced. Hostility to this extent, not seen in Kenyas modern history, illustrated the divisive nature of Kenyas tribalism, and left an entire generation questioning whether Kenya would once again become one of Africas most peaceful nations. Realizing the role they had in ensuring a peaceful future, Kenyas youths, who comprise a majority of the population, began to lead, and grassroots organizations soon began to materialize throughout Kenyas countryside. This book details the efforts made by one such group of Kenyan youths who, together with a young Canadian, came together with the goal of helping to build a sustainable peace in Kenya. It details the background to Kenyas 2008 post-election violence, the early efforts leading to the formation of the Youth Ambassadors for Peace, and steps taken to engage both the potential and ability of those who wish to help. Through youth empowerment and the belief that diversity creates strength, these Kenyans demonstrate the power of a small group of thoughtful and dedicated individuals, united by their desire to find peace before Kenyas next elections are held in March 2013.

In presenting this book, which is a true story, I relate a dramatic chain of events featuring dynamic miracles. During a time frame of just over half a year, pertinent scriptures were quickened to me at a time of impending bankruptcy, after trials of childhood trauma, coping pshychologically with a twenty year old incurable wound, and the need for deliverance from evil spirits. The first chapter of this testimony presents the mystery that the names of books, and the numbers of chapter and verse of scriptures spontaneously came to mind twice in relatively quick succession when I travailed before God to get a word.. I rejected the first word because it baffled me and seemed irrelevant; therefore I tried again, only to receive a different text with exactly the same meaning, which, I believe, defied co-incidence: .....and whoever will not receive you, nor heed your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Matthew 10:14 (italics mine) similar text from Luke 9:5 After recording the events of this book, I dwelt on amplifying the personification of the word city in an unrelated scripture: .....and you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken, Isaiah 62:12 A mystery is thus unfolded to those of my readers, who will embrace this testimony of victory in the spirit and echo the words which are the theme of this book, the song of praise and thanksgiving that Moses sang when God brought the Israelites safely through the Red Sea:Sing unto the Lord For He has triumphed gloriously The horse and his rider Hath He thrown into the sea Exodus 15:1

A true story of life in Africa under extreme conditions where theres nothing to depend on other than your wits and an ability to improvise.A man, his dog Major, and a small group of helpers trucked across seemingly insurmountable mountainous terrain laden with drilling equipment and supplies to survive off the land in isolation for months.Extreme danger and excitementat times life-threateningabounds, coupled with the beauty of nature and her wildlife. The author provides his readers with a slice of colonial life in the 1960s, describing progress through childhood, enduring army training, discovering pleasures of the opposite sex, exploring career options, and finally settling into what became a long career in exploration diamond drilling. It is also a story of love. Shortly after the contract in Ruangwa Valley, the authors isolated and lonely life changed dramatically. No Room for Comfort is an epic story set in pre-2003 Zimbabwe. It follows the life, trials, and tribulations of two orphaned brothers, Kudakwashe and Dzingai. It profiles their strained family relationships, loyalty, struggle, and their attempt to find a room where they could draw comfort. Its a well-written profile of life in Zimbabwe with all its cultural nuances; the narrative is rich in Shona idioms and proverbs and delivered in Zimbabwean English popularized over decades by luminaries such as Doris Lessing, Tsitsi Dangarembga, and many others. No Room for Comforts story is a window into the Zimbabwe before the current one, which is characterized by dysfunctionality and a population defined by its resistance and resilience. Kudakwashe and Dzingais story serves as a metaphor for what Zimbabwe is going through right now. Their struggle to find their identity, living with various relatives who unleashed bad treatment over them irrespective of rich family bonds, could be a metaphor for the xenophobic attacks seen in South Africa and other countries. No Room for Comfort could be a cry by Zimbabweans to finally find that room where they can rediscover their greatness once again. Kajengos style is penetrative, yet in a casual manner, thrust deep into the consciousness of a continent known for its Ubuntu yet famous for its tribal butcheries/genocide.The book, by its very treatment of the subject of estrangement and loss, is a perfect candidate to paint a picture of where the continent is in this millennium. Kajengos no-holds-barred narrative style and his fusing of Shona with English is what Zimbabweans have been waiting for a very long time. This is the novel Africa needs to take to the world as a mirror of where it is today.

"I remember that one day I looked at him and I could not remember why I married this man. He no longer had any of the good qualities that made me fall madly in love with him. He felt like a total stranger and the distance between us just got bigger and bigger. We were no longer functioning like a unit, but we were more like two ships passing each other in the night. We both suffered in silence during this period and I had no desire to talk or spend time with him."This book is for every wife that doubts if she married the right person. You find yourself yearning to feel a powerful connection with him again. It investigates why this distance finds its way into a marriage and offers the only solution is to follow the blueprint of the Creator of the holy matrimony. The focus of this book is on the role of the wife within marriage. It explains submission in a way that would make you excited to be a submissive wife after understanding the reason behind it and the results that it yields. God''s purpose for marriage is revealed and you will then realise that God has a vested interest in your marriage being a success!"The way He designed marriage was for us to recognise that each has a part to play and OUR happiness are dependent on how we choose to execute our role in line with the Word of God."

SOMBRERO MONOLOGUE was an attempt at encouragement in a time of dire distress. It was an intendment for the despondent spirit that strength and purpose could still be found in a time of bleak hopes. The first series of poems were written within three days of a dilemma. They are poems of hope, faith, trust and realization written to heal the broken heart. But it wasnt until after a year that I was able to write the other poems of triumph, freedom, survival and love. These are qualities soul needs to reach its goals. One may find within it, other matters, since in an effort to merely encourage, the muse in the poet took flight and re-plotted the direction of this work. During the initial writings, I devised a serialized pattern for writing this work with a rhythmic song like metre which contributed immensely to the expedite completion of this work. The primal inspiration being the encouragement received from Kathy Black of the Vermont Studio Centre, U.S.A, after the events of September 11 2001 spoilt my chances of a residency in the U.S. but through the encouragement of this woman I never met, a fire started in my heart. That fire became the torch for an immortal goal, lighting the gloom passages of despondency and failure that followed, revealing a series of poetry to me in a manner I had never experienced before. These poems became SOMBRERO MONOLOGUE. The message has gone beyond that and reached Universal dimensions and my approach has been metaphysical. Here, it appears as twelve songs divided into two books sang in twelve days by Diowei, son of Kiemoye, keeper of the sacred flame of Diseye and the sentry of Kemeikiyou, during his sojourn to the banks of the Sombrero River to purge himself of the karma of life, where he paused long enough to compile these poems. Each song has twelve verses with equal number of words and equal number of lines as well, with the end verse leading to the beginning verse. I hereby present to the reading world; SOMBRERO MONOLOGUE, hoping it will serve as a useful addition to literary shelves the world over.

Jazz is essentially an aural tradition and is dependent on this method of learning for success in developing a true understanding of the style. It is impossible to become a jazz musician without familiarity of the players that have brought about its development. The only true and tested method of learning this music is to extract materials from recordings and begin to develop skill through emulation. There is no short cut. In jazz, a player is defined by his influences. If one cannot hear any of the great stylists of jazz in a player he cannot be considered to be a jazz musician. The Jazz Style is a masterfully condensed and comprehensive introduction to learning jazz. It introduces the principles of the music and most importantly gives proper direction on how skill is acquired in the discipline.

The poems in this collection concatenate myriad of happenings in life which, though may take a similar course, do not leave us to grin and grimace at the same time. The turn of events in life, like rain, offers mixed feelings which may be pleasant or otherwise. Though rain comes with peaceful breeze and great equanimity, sometimes it does not usually come with that expected gift of grace. Occasionally, we may have to rejoice and sometimes count our losses. As heavens may pour down its torrent of grace, it may as well drizzle down its tears of terror. Thus, its arrival and departure do not always leave us with a soothing countenance as we all anticipate. With the ease of rainfall, the poems flow with the truths of the common life of the postcolonial subjects in a world of their own.

This bookAfricas Backwardness, Misfortunes, and the Word of Godwas born out of serious burden God imposed on me immediately after I returned back to my village from America. I shaded tears and confronted God with many questions: Why are you partial against Africans? Why are other continents seem to be better than the African continent in all facets of human life except in evil acts? Why the unending scarcity of water, fuel, kerosine, and other mineral resources you gave to Africans, especially Nigeria? Why the unending electricity power failures? Why are all these second hand vehicles, used appliances, and materials in Africa? Why are all these bad roads in this part of the world? Why are the Easterners, Christian States, and the Jews of Nigeria marginalized in many aspect of Nigerian affairs? God, in his own way, lured me to research for the origin of blackman in the Bible. Thereafter, the Word of God arrested me, and the answers to the above queries surfaced plus many other divine revelations; hence today, I am an apostle of Jesus Christ preaching the Word of God. I owe unreserved apologies to God on behalf of Africans, Nigerians, and the Igbo ethnic group in particular hence the introduction of this book to the world. This book is an acid test for the Word of God, and a must read for inquisitive minds, all and sundries.

The events leading up to the promulgation of the apartheid laws in South Africa often raised huge concern, perhaps more so where the color lines merged. Blacks, being confined mostly to homelands and Bantustans, were regarded as a rarity in many communities. In one such community, the laws meant being suspicious even of your neighbours if they had darker complexions.A young woman with exceptional abilities but of mixed breed found herself close to, but on the wrong side, of the color line. Church interference and scandalous gossip increased when it became known that she was living with two white men. On regular visits with his father to collect oysters, a young white boy made her acquaintance. Over the years, a strong bond develops. Unfortunately, life-shattering events completely beyond their control overtake them.
