Few people know Brooklyn like Tom Roma does and he has traversed and photographed nearly every inch of it for six decades. Here he turns his attention on his favorite cars he's shot from 1973-1988.Growing up in Brooklyn, we kids considered parked cars as part of the landscape. We'd hide behind and under them, and if the play involved a chase, felt free to hop up and run across a hood or a trunk to evade capture. Afterwards, when we were just hanging out, a fender would become the furniture in our open-air living room. But for the car's owners it was sometimes a different story -- a car and its parking place could become contested territory, and we'd be forced to move on if they exercised their right to it.For the adults, cars were beasts of burden, pack animals harnessed for work. But for us, with names like Barracuda, Mustang, Falcon, and Impala, they were more like wildlife. As teenagers, before any of us had a license, we made a game of seeing who could be the first to call out the make, model and year of a car coming down the block. We'd all stare at it as it got closer and closer, and declare the winner as it passed by. I never stopped staring at cars. These pictures were taken in Brooklyn from 1973 to 1988.

Internationally renowned artist, Sally Gall's attention and focus is devoted skyward in her highly-anticipated artist book, Heavenly Creatures, as she appreciates the ephemeral beauty of delicate earthbound objects lofted up into the air and wind.Gall creates dancing images from below of an everyday sight of laundry on the line as it morphs from human to abstract; bright and billowing clothing, choreographed by the wind, and floating in a brilliant sky.Beyond our reach and higher up, Gall creates images out of the skyward movement of kites, cloth and paper flying machines, fragile objects connected to earth by only the slightest of strings, animated by the wind, and striving ever upwards. Heavenly Creatures continues Sally Gall's lifetime investigation of the sensual properties of the natural world: light, air, wind, and sky. Abstracted by composition, context, and color, these anthropomorphic photographs reference sea creatures, constellations, blooming flowers, microscopic amoebas, as well as abstract paintings by Joan Miro, Wassily Kandinsky, Georgia O'Keefe. Heavenly Creatures embodies Sally Gall's search for poetry in the everyday, the miraculous in the ordinary.

The American street has always been the ultimate public venue for political and cultural expression. This collection of images by Kevin Bubriski covers a decade of American street protest that began on January 20, 2001 with the inauguration of George W. Bush and ended with Occupy Wall Street in October of 2011. The crowds in the street at the 2001 inauguration made it clear America was at a difficult and defining moment after a contentious election. Following the inauguration of 2001 and the tragedy of 9/11, the American streets— as they have been since the country’s founding—became the setting for numerous memorials and vigils, parades and protests. These photographs chronicle events in New York, Washington, D.C., and Vermont. The gatherings were large and sometimes small, and in both cases usually unnoticed by the mainstream media. These street portraits show a diversity of Americans: veterans, families of men and women on active duty, families of the victims of the 9/11 tragedy, parents of U.S. servicemen and women killed in the Iraq War, security personnel, police, Muslim Americans, anti-war activists, disenfranchised minorities, and anarchist youth. The common denominators that unite these images are the lens of the Hasselblad camera and the public stage of the American streets.

Twenty horses -- 120 seconds -- 150 years -- timeless fashion. From the hats in the grandstands to the silks on the track, fashion is as much a part of the Kentucky Derby as the thoroughbreds, the jockeys, and the mint juleps. Lili Kobielski has been photographing the Kentucky Derby for Vogue for a decade. She aptly captures the vibrant colors, jovial festivities, and, of course, the fantastic headwear of this iconic day in sports. Kentucky Derby Fashion celebrates the spectators of this epic event and illustrates how their creativity and style make the Derby what it is. It serves as a historical document of these tiny works of art. Flip the book over and now you have LIFE, where cheeky, hopeful, raunchy, and politically punning stories and jokes abound, as Griffith uses the bottle cap brand names themselves to create sophisticated yet Dad Joke-y wordplay puns The interactive production of POP LIFE generates 'a laugh-out-loud / did you get that?' game activity the whole family can enjoy. Through these visual narratives, readers experience the interplay of American optimism and charm within an era when thousands of independent bottlers across the U.S. vied for consumer attention with their own distinct designs and branding. To round out the book, collector Todd Selbert contributes a text that speaks to the bottle-cap collector lifestyle.
