The complex procedure of cataloguing and maintenance of cumbersome files has been replaced by a small box-computer and a few clicks. Similarly, the Internet has brought about a complete change in the field. This work is meticulously tailored and aimed at providing a full insight into this discipline.

Social organisation, the structural formation and set-up of every society is its foremost crusader against any social injustice in whatever hue. Man being a social being has always been and will always be part of social organisations. History of social organisation dates back to the very beginning of human history, and right from prehistoric times, it is seen and observed that a strong and united social organisation can singly and effectively achieve what the single and disunited cannot. Social grouping helped man to take on his common enemies like wild animals and people from other tribes or Gothras. Thus, Social organisations have been successful in eliminating the sense of insecurity or fear among any group or individual, as almost everybody in our society is a part of social organisation or group. Accessibility to justice and highest power centres once the purview of the privileged; the affluent and politicians are thus now available to the common man in society. This encyclopedia, in three volumes covering all aspects of social organisations and related topics makes authentic and interesting reading for all classes.

This book aims at reducing the phobia of students who always consider organic chemistry as the toughest branch of Chemistry. This study will help the learner to understand the properties of organic compounds. It is likely to form a good foundation in understanding organic chemistry for beginners and will be helpful in degree classes.

Awakening the people to help themselves is Social Awakening. Social Awakening has always been a ubiquitous part of the histories-in-making. From the beginning of the human history man has been showing his innate quest to be equalled with the people around him. The Social Renaissance and subsequently the Reformation had been phenomenon or concept of the 16th Century Europe. The epoch-making, slogan of 'Liberty, Equality and Fraternity' was coined during the French Revolution, two centuries ago, which brought about wide-sweeping social changes and its repercussions the world over. The self-respect of Indians, their sense of belonging and reluctant social awakening snowballed into the First War of Independence in 1857. It is heartening to find that social awakening, by now, has started percolating to the hitherto downtrodden stratum of our society. Almost all sections of the society recognise the rights and duties developed upon them. Although a feudal-like environment is prevalent in several parts of our country, it is, presently, on its way out or at its terminal decline. Our independence itself was the product of a revolutionary social awakening in a highly resolved and determined Indian Society. Nothing can be brought out, all of sudden. Social change can be resulted in through evolutionary and gradual purification process of a society. This "Encyclopedia of Social Awakening" comprises three volumes, covering all dimensions of the subject and other related matters. Before this work came to its present shape, the development process of all the strata of the society was scrutinised and thoroughly studied. Thus, evidently this work will be something unprecedented, content wise.

Welfare of the people, the country or the state which a government controls heads the priority list of things of any government in the world. There are umpteen organisations -- governmental and non-governmental -- in our society to safeguard the different sections in our society yet many aspects need to be taken into consideration before one can even dram of an ideal state. Although India is a rapidly growing economy, the income disparity prevalent amongst the people and our poor Human Development Index clearly indicate that much need to be done in the area of social welfare. Poor literacy rate, ever present and increasing infant mortality rate and sex ratio in several sates present a dismal picture of the steps taken for the welfare of the masses. Provision of quality primary education to children transgressing castist, regional, gender and religious bias and provision of security to women who are now taking up employment in different occupations at par with men will be a positive initial step in this direction. These four volumes virtually cover all aspects of the subject and have been prepared after intensive research and thorough analysis of the subject. A must read for all related to this field.

In view of the epidemiological situation, all countries in the region are vulnerable to the influenza pandemic. Threat of world influenza pandemic has never been imminent. To combat this grave threat, it is essential for countries to be well prepared. Experts predict it is only a matter of time before a bird flu strain will mutate and become transmissible between humans. Once that happens, a pandemic like the Spanish flu that resulted in over 50 million deaths, overwhelming hospital and medical services could be inevitable. This book includes a detailed glossary of terms and a comprehensive index to clarify all the technical and general concepts about this deadly virus. WHO guidelines are provided in detail. The prevention and preparedness of activities that facilitate the response and recovery during and after influenza pandemic are important aspects that are included in this book.

In 1903 E L Thorndike described educational psychologists as middlemen mediating between the science of psychology is deceptively simple; it is the application of psychological principles to the domain of teaching and learning. However, the breadth of knowledge an individual must possess to do this proficiently is staggering and becoming more so every day. Educational Psychologists must be familiar with the traditional approaches to the study of behaviour, the humanistic behavioural, cognitive and psychoanalytic orientations. They must be aware of the theories and pure research emanating from the traditional branches of psychology such as development, linguistics, motivation, testing and test interpretation. This revised edition includes a new chapter on Development and characteristics of Adolescent and makes interesting reading for all.

Divided into 7 chapters, this book focuses on various positive and negative aspects of nuclear energy and power. It elaborates on issues such as an analysis of contemporary nuclear power production, nuclear safety and existing systems of safeguard, the performance of nuclear reactors worldwide, and others.

Covers the area of major impacts of nuclear weapons and explosions in its totality and gives a detailed fact sheet on nuclear weapons and accidents. A nuclear weapon derives its destructive force from nuclear reactions of fission or fusion, thus making even a nuclear weapon with a relatively small yield significantly more powerful than the largest conventional explosives. Consequently, a single weapon is capable of destroying an entire city like Hiroshima. Nuclear explosives have been tested and used for various non-military uses. Nuclear explosions produce both immediate and delayed destructive effects such as blasts and radioactive fallout. The impacts and injuries caused by nuclear blasts and resulting radiation effects causing cancer, congenital defects, mental retardation, immune destruction, cancer, stillbirths and other health problems is discussed in detail. Besides the blast and radiation damage from individual bombs, a large scale nuclear exchange between nations could conceivably have a catastrophic global effect on climate and pollute vast amounts of soil and water. The Book is divided into seven chapters and is a must read for all concerned with nuclear safety.
