This is the story of the Iraqi war written by one of the only people in Iraq without a minder. It is based on the author's own personal insights as an Assyrian Christian over a period of several years, which were drawn from meetings with the Iraqi Prime Minister, President, Foreign Minister, top US and international officials, and the Iraqi people themselves. It reveals what happened to the weapons of mass destruction, and it tells of the horrors experienced by those who worked for the Iraqi government and what life was like under Saddam. It describes the days leading up to the war, the first relief convoy to cross the border into Iraq following the war, and the tremendous success of the nearly 400,000 Americans who fanned out across Iraq to love and save the nation only to now be on the verge of seeing that success lost. Liberating Iraq will appeal to those who served in Iraq, their family members and anyone who wants to know the truth about what really happened.

This is the powerful autobiography of Marcus Valdespino and deals with gang life and violence in San Antonio and such controversial subjects as race relations, poverty, and interracial crime. The first 29 years of Valdespino's was compelling and tragic. He witnessed his father's drug dealing to high profile people and Marcus, unfortunately followed in his footsteps. Valdespino's story shows the worst of humanity and is chilling in its depiction of sex and violence and heartfelt, poignant and sad in its betrayal of the rite of passage of a young person growing up in this world. "The White Boys Confessions" is also extremely powerful in its social and political commentary. There are several layers of the story contained within it that are both frightening and humorous. All of Valdespino's story -- the bad and the ugly -- is in "The White Boy Confessions". It is a story of not just survival but also redemption.

This book reveals Marvin Clark's fascinating life as a Boston drug dealer from 1960-1990 and a participant in some of seminal events of the latter 20th century. As a drug dealer, Clark became a rare survivor of the government's attempt to stop the distribution. The value of Clark's memoir is to show us how the government turned quite helpless when a major segment of our future leaders, that is, the college youth of the period, began to defy government policies as hypocritical and oppressive. Clark relates what it was like to have lived on the edge of this exciting and pivotal part of American history. His drug peddling operation was never full time; and he was able to attend college while selling illegal drugs during the desegregation of the schools, race riots, and daily demonstrations against the Vietnam War. Clark depicts Boston at the beginning of South American drug smuggling into the city. The Baby Boomers of the post-World War II years seize upon pot smoking as a political symbol of youth freedom. Clark shows us how he too often justified his trafficking as a moral crusade against political hypocrisy and social injustice. The advocates and dealers provoke sharp denunciations from President Lyndon Johnson to George Bush. Once demands for Clark's drugs become established, politicians began to question whether hash sentences for marijuana possession really suppress trafficking it. This valuable memoir begins with the post-World War II domestic migration of African Americans from the deep South. Few readers may be unaware of the underworld's activities during the political rallies and the end he shows that he was all along among the idealists, political radicals, and hippies, most of his contemporaries were blind to the foreign and underworld drug traffickers.

This book chronicles the numerous events that have affected the University of North Carolina and seriously brought into question what was once a sterling reputation, both athletically and academically. From the time that knowledge of controversial actions first emerged publicity in 2010, a number of transgressions, events, and discoveries would redefine what was known as "The Carolina Way." Players, coaches, faculty, and university leaders all played roles in the scandals, and in many cases appeared complicit. This book documents the efforts to uncover the facts of the worst combined academic and athletic scandal in the history of the University of North Carolina, America's first public university. It is a sad tale of expensive and ineffective efforts at spin control preventing the UNC administration from admitting and correcting clear wrongdoing at an early stage in its now four-year effort. The book shows that despite specific, repeated during of both the Chairman of the UNC Chapel Hill Trustees and the Chairman of the Consolidated University System's Board of Governors to be quickly forthcoming and transparent, the administration repeatedly withheld facts until ordered by the court to disclose them or they were exposed by the investigative reporting of several news agencies.

This is a post-Vietnam War memoir that offers a unique perspective on the history and realities of the war and the long term impact of Agent Orange. This book is a tribute to the author's late husband, who was incredibly special and important although very few people know who he was or what he accomplished. It is also a testament to those brave men, women and children who, with nothing other than anger and personal dedication, taught America to honor the Vietnam Combat Veterans and create new laws and treatment for those whose lives and progeny were destroyed by Agent Orange. Perhaps the greatest purpose served by the book is to teach those who want to evoke change but fall short due to their own self- doubt or feelings of powerlessness.

This book gives a glimpse and a tour into the primary and collateral events triggered when the Reagan Administration abruptly shifted three decades of American foreign policy to favour the interests of the Arab States to the detriment of our traditional Middle East allies, the Israelis. Have you ever wondered about the real story behind the blaring headlines of that era? Count Alexandre de Marenches, long-time chief of the Service de Documentation Exterieure de Contre-Espionnage, the primary Intelligence Agency of France, described it as two sorts of history ...the known and the unknown. This book describes some of those unknowns. Welcome to the Spook War.
