In 1984, "The People" branded Ian Bone 'the most dangerous man in Britain'. They weren't far wrong. From the inner city riots of 1981 to the miners' strike and beyond the butler's son and founder of Class War was indeed a greater thorn in Margaret Thatcher's side than the useless blatherings of the Official Opposition. Class War were the real opposition! It was Ian Bone who linked the inner city rioters of Brixton and Handsworth with the striking miners. It was Bone who "The People" spotted rioting with miners in Mansfield, attacking laboratories with the Animal Liberation Front and being fingered by the "Guardian" as the man behind the 1985 Brixton Riot. But that was only the half of it...from 1965 to 1985, from Swansea to Cardiff and London the mayhem spread countrywide. In "Bash The Rich", Ian Bone tells it like it was. From The Angry Brigade to The Free Wales Army, from the 1967 Summer of Love to 1977 anarcho-punk, from Grosvenor Square to the Battle of the Beanfield from the Stop the City riots to Bashing the Rich at the Henley Regatta, Ian Bone breaks his silence. In the 1980s, Ian Bone was 'The Anarchist In The UK' with a half brick in one hand and an incendiary pen in the other. How did the child who lived in a fabulous English mansion and saluted the AA man from a Rolls Royce come to be the man who famously promised to Bash the Rich and leave Hampstead a smouldering ruin? Where do David Niven, Keith Allen, Rik Wakeman, Douglas Fairbanks Junior, Cynthia Payne, George Melly, Flanagan and Allan, Yoko Ono Pope John Paul and Lofty from Eastenders fit into the story. Why did Gregory Peck send Ian Bone a Get well card? This is no dry tome destined to gather dust in leftie bookshops. Against a background of all the major outbreaks of disorder of the time it's a startlingly honest, funny, warts n' all scream of rage from a gutter level anarchist prepared to fight "by any means necessary". That "the most dangerous man in Britain" is at liberty to write books rather than serving a life sentence for sedition or being hung for treason will be the first question on every MP's lips as this smouldering anarchist bomb hits the bookshelves.

Chris Burton and Gary Thompson have compiled a fascinating collection of flyers advertising secret parties on the Bristol circuit in the 80s and conducted a series of interviews with the people behind the leading hip hop crews of the day. The result is a book that covers an area in Bristol's (and the UK's) musical development that has never before been documented. Nothing seemed to daunting for the young DJs, MCs and rappers as they took over abandoned buildings, moved in the sound systems and partied al night long. The only publicity was word of mouth and flyers. Many of the artists behind the flyers such as FLX, Inkie and Nick Walker have gone on to gain national and international recognition while many of the crews have become music superstars.

This book is now available as softback. As a photographer Beezer was in a unique position in Bristol in the 1980s. Close friends with the Wild Bunch (later to become Massive Attack) and other Bristol hip hop crews, he was able to capture on film the rich urban culture at the heart of the underground music and art scene prevalent in Bristol at the time. Many of the shots are of the Wild Bunch performing at the Dug Out Club, the infamous Red House Jam and at St Paul's Carnival, but there are many more shots from festivals and events and a selection of portraiture. This book has previously only been available as an import from Japan where it was originally published.

Stanley Donwood says of a selection of stories contained in Household Worms that were inspired by drinking red wine alone at night: 'These were written to avoid staring for too long at a night-filled window that only reflected my own sorry-for-itself face. Perhaps I should try writing with white wine too. A lighter tone may emerge. Champagne would probably get me writing jokes for crackers. Never mind, never mind.' Donwood is best known as an artist, but this collection confirms his prowess as an equally talented writer of prose.

10th anniversary edition. New entries and citizenship test. Tangent's biggest selling local book. Perfect gift book for young and old. Harry Stoke and Vinny Green launched the Dictionary of Bristle in 2003 to celebrate the remarkable success of their thatbebristle website a hilarious spoof news page with a passing similarity to the Bristol Evening Post's thisisbristol website. At its peak, the website enjoyed astonishing success and the Dictionary was originally published to help readers understand the nuances of the Bristolian words and phrases. The website is long gone, but the Dictionary goes from strength to strength and sells particularly strongly at Christmas through supermarkets as well as the traditional booktrade and in gift shops. Tangent Books acquired the Dictionary from Broadcast books in 2009 and released a third edition. The updated fourth edition celebrates the 10th anniversary of the original Dictionary. The book is now accepted worldwide as the authoritative guide to speaking Bristolian and has been responsible for a whole new generation of Bristolians reclaiming their distinctive dialect.Within two years of the publication of the Dictionary of Bristle the Bristolian word 'lush' was added to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Despite believing he was bionic as a child, Ira Rainey was far from an elite athlete with superhuman running abilities like the ones he read about in books. He was in fact an overweight and unfit slacker who felt a bit sorry for himself because he had sore feet. Sure he ran a bit, but he also sat around a lot and ate and drank too much. Why? Because he could, and because he was a delusional optimist who thought everything would always be just fine. That was until a friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given months to live. It was an event that would push Ira to tackle his apathy towards life and take on the challenge of becoming an ultramarathon runner, pushing himself to go further than he had ever gone before. Award winning, Fat Man to Green Man: From Unfit to Ultramarathon is a warm and humorous account of one man's quest to uncover his true super powers as he journeys from fat to fit, and taking in everything that came between the two. It is a story of fields and friendships; mud and maps; but more importantly learning how to push yourself to achieve what you would never believe you could - and how to deal with the consequences.Fat Man to Green Man is shortlisted for the British Sports Book Awards 2014 (Best New Writer) and won the silver award for running books in The 2014 Running Awards, an award voted for by runners.

Following the discovery of the lost manuscript, Catacombs of Terror by Radiohead artist Stanley Donwood is being published by the Scratter & Pomace imprint of Tangent Books. If running extreme distances is as much about mental endurance as physical, how do you keep going when your internal monologue turns against you? That was the simple question Ira Rainey faced when the darkness of depression cast its long shadow over his life. The answer it turned out was far from straightforward.Following on chronologically from award-winning Fat Man to Green Man: From Unfit to Ultramarathon, this second book examines how important mental state, support, and friendship are, not just to running long distances, but to life and happiness as a whole. It's not a book about winning, nor is it written as a guide, a how to, or an instruction manual. It's simply an honest window into the world of unremarkable ultramarathon running.Still Not Bionic follows Ira's turbulent journey as he battles his inner demons across mountains, along coastal paths, and beside canals in his attempt to undertake the ultimate quest of completing a one-hundred mile footrace across England.
