This Handbook represents the author’s impression (so far) of an ancient system, Taoism, which, though Chinese in origin, is universal in its application and which he now desires, for both altruistic and self-seeking reasons, to share with you, the reader. The relationship you are about to begin with it could constitute a major experiment with your reality. It is written primarily for your enjoyment, both in the reading and in the after-effect on your life. It contains some pretty heavy stuff and is therefore best treated lightly with a peck of pickled pepper. Though it happens to contain all the information you need to install the warrior’s mind set in your circuitry, the information is presented so as to entertain you and therefore facilitate easy absorption. This is no mere two-dimensional intellectual explanation (literally a laying out flat on a plain) of a system, but is in fact a total ‘sensaround’ four-dimensional interactive reading experience. I am appealing to your true intelligence which lies behind your intellect, the intelligence of your body. Dimension three is introduced by placing the ideas in the context of your ‘everyday’ life. Dimension four comes into play during the process of unfoldment you may experience as the information itself unfolds over time. If you follow the material in sequence, its silken thread will guide you to a full understanding of the Taoist warrior ‘system’ almost without your realising it’s happening. If you let click randomly on any page you can use it as a personal oracle or magical counsellor to give you the answer to whichever question is on your mind, to give you a portion of friendly company, a little chuckle and a spot of up-lift to help you on your way. Focus on whatever’s bothering you most at the moment, then once you have read this passage, close your eyes and the Handbook. Now let the Handbook fall open at any page and read that page. Perhaps it’ll give you some elucidation on your situation, perhaps it won’t. But may you receive ten thousand benefits from the reading of it.

Seeking fame and fortune is anathema to Taoist practice and with good sense too as the unwanted attention, fuss and envy it elicits in others along with the inevitable slew of responsibilities any such attainment brings in its wake, can be onerous. However Taoist practice is devoted to attainment of transcendence, enlightenment and eventually on death, immortality of consciousness, and will use any hook it can to grab your attention and engage your focus. So that paradoxically by following even your vainest aspirations, deploying these Taoist self-optimization methods will lead you through all the clamor and hopefully some glamor to the enlightened state regardless. Ultimately all activity is the Tao dancing and using the Taoist method, everything you do leads you another step in this dance with the Tao. Be warned though this is powerful and it works – your life will change unexpectedly and unpredictably as a result of doing the exercises in this book.

Barefoot Doctor’s Handbook for Modem Lovers is the third of a trilogy of handbooks dealing with the ‘eternal’ triumvirate that appears to make the material world go round, namely Power, Money and Sex (PMS).

Handbook for Modem Lovers provides a Wayward guide to help you discover new depths of sexual love within yourself.

I have come (fairly) clean in this book about my own sexuality in the hope that modern lovers the world over will be inspired to do likewise, as I believe that bringing things out into the open is good for people’s health and will be helpful in reducing general tension levels on the planet at this time.

Sex as an expression of anything other than love is like food without nutritional value. It fills the gap for an instant, then you’re hungry again. Sex as an expression of love nourishes you in a cumulative way, each encounter building your sense of self-value, increasing your capacity to love yourself and others.

Not that there’s anything intrinsically wrong (or right) with loveless sex. Fast food is sometimes the expedient choice. Fast sex can be exhilarating. But just as your digestive organs find it hard to make much use of mass-market burgers, your soul finds it hard to make sense of loveless sexual encounters.

You don’t need to be in a long-term relationship to express love when you have sex. You can express love with a complete stranger as easily as you can express no love with a long-term partner. That part’s entirely up to you.

The total Taoist approach to retrieving and maintaining a state of mental balance, perspective calm, confidence, joyousness, clarity, authenticity, sanity, and ease, comprising all pertinent Taoist healing technique and philosophy to adjust mood, humor, energy levels, and strength of mind and body, as you go along without recourse to medication. Presented in a fun, engaging, intelligent, easy-to-follow way that will reassure and heal you simply by the warmth and love transmitted through the words, and the exercises themselves when followed are highly effective. This book has been the healing miracle for millions of people who’d otherwise be a total mess now.

Pretty much every aspect of the human condition is covered, and most challenges to daily peace addressed – pick your issue and find the answer do the exercise and watch how it frees you from the shackles of confusion, depression, anxiety, anguish and all other psychopathies provided you’re lucid enough to read and implement the suggestions.

Twisted Fables for Twisted Minds is a homage to the surreal and absurd hidden in the folds of the everyday, yet all aspects of this powerfully preposterous novel are based on true stories. Read this book and you will feel reborn. Either that, or it’ll just make you go insane.

Taoism differs from other similar esoteric systems in many ways. You can distinguish it both by the emphasis Taoist practice places on referencing all experience to proprioceptive awareness of what’s occurring in the body rather than being lost and prey to delusion in the imagination, which is the usual way of modern Western culture; and by the ultimate goal of practice. At their highest level all other practices ancient and newfangled promise transcendence and enlightenment. While this is a product of Taoist practice it goes one step further to promise immortality. This is not, as far as anyone knows, actual physical immortality, as that remains the province of vampire movies and suchlike, but immortality of consciousness. The Taoists call this phenomenon the ‘immortal spirit body’. This is the vehicle that carries your presence across the divide when you finally drop your body and die. They never presumed to describe what’s over there as that would be childish. And because of the notable diminishment of mortal dread wrought by the daily practice of activating and developing identity with the immortal spirit body – the gust of the internal alchemical process, the moment of death is presumably made far less melodramatic, and hence easier to negotiate. This then extends to every waking moment as well as during your dreams, all the way along the path till you get there.

As well as activating the spirit body, daily practice of internal alchemy activates all the benign human qualities required to operate at full potential during this lifetime – power, grace, will, empathy, courage, healing, immunity, confidence, determination, purity, beauty, beauteousness, endurance, stamina, steadfastness, sturdiness, core integrity, wealth, good standing, success, fulfillment, magnetism, charisma, sensuousness, manifesting power, creativity, clarity, nobility and virtue.

Like transmuting base metal into gold, the animal drive is transmuted into pure chi, which in turn is transmuted into pure consciousness, and the pumping mechanism occurs by rhythmically stimulating the flow of chi along a circuit of meridians called the eight psychic channels as they comprise the energy-structure of the spirit body.

At the very least this is a sophisticated meditation system for people with restless minds that require for their soothing useful pathways of attention to move along during the meditation practice, similarly to repeating mantras or visualizing yantras for example.

But with full presence brought to bear on daily practice a gradual yet exponential activation of the immortal self occurs in a palpable way.

Tao of Internal Alchemy, revised version of the title originally published in 2001 as Return of the Urban Warrior, is renowned as the clearest if not only teaching on this rare system and certainly the most enjoyable to interact with this side of the Milky Way.

Taoism was first renowned in the West among hippies for its magic – the ability to make things manifest with great ease, hardly without even having to twitch your nose to make things happen. It’s a system based entirely on combining clear intention, focusing chi in a clear stream in the direction of the object or outcome of desire, and grace. In this instance grace or ‘te’ (literally virtue) refers to the state of not caring one way or the other whether your magic works, because you’re so fully aware you’re already in receipt of the greatest manifestation there can ever be: existence and a human body and consciousness with which to experience and enjoy it.

This is the enlightened state. It implies consistent awareness of the Tao, the Great Way of things keeping everyone and everything in motion, the only constant factor in an otherwise fully transient universe. The grace of acquiescence to what is provides the basis for interceding and guiding the flow of events in your direction.

Paradoxically, though the practice is ostensibly about getting what you want without trying through indulging this external focus but in the prescribed way, you find yourself led swiftly along the path to full transcendence so you truly don’t give a damn whether things go this way or that.

And it’s only when you have the grace to allow life to unfold as it will, that it responds to the beauty in your soul and grants you the boon of miraculous manifestation.

And this is the book that shows you how.

This is the revised version of the title first published in 2004 as Manifesto, and over the years the feedback about its startling efficaciousness has been consistently superlative.

The Taoist healing sounds are famous for their efficaciousness. They work similarly to the healing effect for cats of purring. With practice you learn to direct the sounds to the various vital organs and so stimulate and optimize organ function, and hence all physical systems.

Moreover, the mindset and mood is directly affected leaving you feeling cleansed of mental and psychic toxin as well as physical poison on a daily basis, and so able to accomplish far more with less effort and more success.

And it’s fun – toning the sounds makes you feel instantly magnificent – it’s medical meditation at its best.

This wee book teaches you everything you need to know which with ongoing practice will wring huge changes for the better in all aspects of life.

It’s sound stuff.

As a leader, a specialist in making people feel good from the inside out, a master of the Taoist martial arts, medicine and meditation systems and the author of 14 previous books, I’ve been living by and teaching the Taoist system for 40 years and have helped millions transform using these techniques and philosophies. Among the collection of august teachers and gurus I trained with was the eminent maverick psychiatrist R.D. Laing, to whose memory this book is dedicated and with whom I studied comparative religion (spiritual paths) as well as the machinery of consciousness, with a bias towards the Western perspective. The Bible was at the top of the reading list he gave me.

According to our own Western, pagan-infused, Judeo-Christian mythology, Moses, described as liberator and leader of the Israelites, but probably an initiate of the Egyptian mysteries, went up on Mount Sinai, had a conference with God and came down with a set of stone tablets inscribed with ten commandments, adherence to which would enable society to function optimally and thus bring it to the so-called Promised Land.

This is allegory, including even the commandments themselves.

The liberation of a people from slavery alludes to the liberation of the self from delusion-born suffering. The character of Moses alludes to the guiding spirit within or, in modern terminology, the subconscious.

The promised land alludes, if not to a full-blown utopia, which is unrealistic in any case, then at least to an enlightened global society governed more by wisdom and trust than foolishness or suspicion, inclined more towards collaboration and cooperation than domination or oppression, in which love, honor and respect comprise the currency and the economy it drives is booming, enabling an unprecedented flowering of the human spirit benefiting everyone on Earth and ensuring we not only survive this most challenging transitional passage but actually thrive by it.

The Ten Commandments themselves allude to the ten ethical principles of natural grace, arising endogenously, spontaneously and automatically once the individual is internally aligned and centered, and thus in command of themselves. The ‘thou shalt not’ and ‘thou shalt’ approach to influencing people doesn’t even work with children, let alone adults. Treating the Ten Commandments as actual commandments is evidently nonsensical, as the very establishment which claims to follow them itself ordains and partakes of murder (at times of war), robbery (colonizing territories) and lying (disinformation and hypocrisy) on a grand scale.

And Moses represents that aspect of your psyche that yearns to lead you home, to oneness with all that is – the enlightened, transcendent state.

We are obliged now to stop pretending to be irresponsible children with a set of commandments to break and to rise up collectively to the magnificent fullness of who we really all are: ineffable presences in human form – fallen angels nearing the end of a long journey home.

Doing so, learning to follow these ten precepts for enlightenment, we will indeed, circumstances permitting, enter the Promised Land. We will collectively meet the challenge, come through the crisis and move as one to the next evolutionary stage, potentially the most exciting step the human race has ever taken.

This is the message and the time has come to spread it far and wide to every corner of the Earth.

On the ride this book facilitates, we take the Ten Commandments and reposition them in light of the above, from a Taoism-informed, humanism-based perspective and so derive a feasible, effective and necessary template for a new world.

Negative programming, or more precisely patterning, begins pretty much the moment you’re out of the womb and engaging in your first interaction with your mother, possibly father and whoever else is in charge at the time – and quite probably even earlier while still in the womb. It’s inevitable. Because (according to the Taoist way of explaining the mechanisms of existence) everything (and everyone) existing on the material plane is subject to the underlying subatomic dynamic of ‘yin and yang’, negative and positive – you obviously can’t have one without the other – a degree of negative patterning will be transmitted to you and imprint itself on your psycho-neural circuit boards from the start. And because you’re wide open without preferences, or even a way of categorizing or recognizing yet what might work to your benefit and what might not, you’re utterly defenseless and susceptible.

And because as a newborn you’re hypersensitive it takes only the most minuscule degree of negative stimulus to trigger trauma, however minimally.

It could be an askance glance, a roughness in the way you’re being handled, an impatience to put you down, irritation at your crying, thinly veiled or blatant disgust at your eliminatory activities, or an unkind, loud, strident, abrasive, of even fake-nice (hence perceived as sinister) vocal tone. Your mother could even have been suffering from post-natal shock turning to depression, or your father may have been under such financial duress and hence so afraid and on edge that he snapped at you. Or your parents could have simply been inept at being their authentic selves and articulating genuine emotion in a resonant way. The result is alienation. With alienation comes a sense of isolation, and of course of being abandoned – obviously one of the scariest, most unsettling sensations for a tiny helpless baby.

WHAT DETERMINES YOUR EXPERIENCE OF BEING YOU AS A HUMAN

This is important. Your entire experience is predicated on four factors: one, the way you describe reality to yourself; two, the criteria you then use to evaluate your position, worth, progress and prospects; three, how you then react to these self-evaluations; and four, how you talk to yourself as a result, which then determines how you continue to do one, two, and three and perpetuates either a vicious or virtuous cycle depending on whether you talk to yourself in a kindly or unkindly manner. If you’re not more or less totally satisfied with who you perceive yourself to be, or with how you perceive your life to be, and if you’re not more or less totally exhilarated simply being alive in your body, enjoying the human experience, you can be sure it results directly from a fault in one or more, or probably all of these.

And if in that differential between satisfaction and dissatisfaction, between exhilaration and self-pity, you’re aware of a tendency not to love yourself, and the default is necessarily to hate yourself, however subtly, and to sustain that pattern at an unconscious level, by harboring unresolved guilt, and/or feeling ashamed of yourself, which is tantamount to self-harming, however discretely or otherwise – if this is the case it will be because of these four factors.

This ebook tells you, along with exercises, how to undo any negative programming and love yourself and life fully again

Are you afraid of flying? Do you suffer from shyness? Do you sometimes feel sad in the summer? Do you wish you could think more positively?

In this collection of his well-loved newspaper columns, Barefoot Doctor prescribes holistic solutions for every distressing aspect of modern life, from being stuck in traffic to sexual dysfunction. Bursting with jaunty lyricism this book is perfect if you’re seeking to improve your wellbeing without recourse to the piety of standard self-help books.

Psyche derives from the Greek: soul – hence psychic healing or soul-healing (as opposed to sole-heeling which you might at first glance think would be more suited to a barefoot doctor’s style).

Implying we’ll be healing ourselves from and at the most profound level of self. This then takes care of all the progressively more superficial levels, all the way out to the skin, and even further to encompass all external aspects of life too. This all based on Taoist metaphysics, and is a training in becoming not just a physician (in the broadest sense as in healer), but a metaphysician. Anyone who imagines that divorcing physics from metaphysics can provide a full intelligence of any aspect of existence is severely deluded. The physical relies on the metaphysical for its existence. Meta, comes from Greek, above, as in Latin super.

Hence SUPERHEALING, as in metaphysical, or psychic healing.

Everything starts and ends with the mind. The universe starts and ends with the primordial universal ‘mind’ or consciousness – and each of us likewise – similarly all physical conditions are instigated by the mind, even including exogenous diseases and damage. And all conditions are healed by the mind. This doesn’t mean conditions are imaginary, simply that both their genesis and dissolution are instigated by the mind, by an intention – at the deepest level, the level of the soul, and almost exclusively unconsciously – hence why psychic healing will be our focus: to access that autonomic layer of mind whence the intention arose and adjust it.

I’ve also called it super as an ironic nod to this overblown, overheated, over-sensationalized world of superlatives we find ourselves in where even the most commonplace occurrence is awesome (a word confined in former times to describe only that which provoked profound awe, as in awe of the divine, or of a mountain range, or of a galaxy, for example). And I reckoned if we can have super-cars and super-yachts, we can have super-healings too.

I say this will be experiential, because by my intention, I’ll be healing you even as you’ll be learning how to heal yourself and others using your own intention.

As well as activating intention, you’ll be learning a whole lot more about the two main levels of self, the structure and anatomy of each, and the most effective direct methods of intervention.

What perspective shifting means

It’s about clearing the fog of the everyday by stepping aside momentarily and seeing everything from a new angle — taking your attention off yourself and your personal dramas that are obscuring the clarity within and the magic without, and placing it instead on the energetic/spiritual region of reality. That way, you’ll enjoy life much more, whatever the weather.

Invincibility means the inability to be overcome, or the ability never to be overcome — by anything or anyone — at the deepest level of your being. Whatever happens or doesn’t happen in your life, you remain in a constant state of enlightenment.

The Invincibility training will help you experience a marked increase in energy, strength, self-confidence, clarity, focus and personal power and will induce total personal transformation in 64 hours.

The Invincibility Training is a 3-day program you can do on your own (or with friends) at home. Starting on a Friday evening and ending at work on a Monday lunchtime, you take yourself hour-by-hour through a set series of powerfully transformative exercises culled from Taoist martial arts mental training methods and adapted for the layperson in the modern world.

While simple to perform and not overly strenuous, these qigong exercises are challenging enough to make a serious impact at the deepest level. It will enable you to discover the invincible power of your original invincible spirit.

I tend to suffer from compulsive liberationist tendencies – in other words, I’m a natural-born liberator – so I hope reading this book serves to set you free of anything holding you back from transforming your own life into the most magnificent adventure imaginable.

I say I’m a supercharged Taoist because for more than 35 years I’ve been training in Taoist martial arts, qigong, and meditation. Just as it promised in the instruction leaflets, these practices have generated an accumulation of supercharged energy that courses through me and everything I do. This makes my life exciting, endlessly varied, and full of adventure. Using the ancient Taoist wu-wei manifesting methods – focusing on being, not doing, and intending things into existence rather than trying to force them – I’m able to create reality as I wish it to be, almost instantaneously. I say this humbly. Also, by letting the Taoist philosophy underscore everything I think, do, and say, I’ve learned to be flexible in my thinking. Flexibility lets me enjoy all aspects of the ride to the fullest, whether in an up phase or a down one. I feel blessed by all this and want to share my good fortune with you. I want you, in your own style, to be blessed in the same way.

I’ve always had a desire to share the wonder of the Tao with others. That’s been my motivation for as long as I can remember. I have an enthusiasm for it, a childlike exuberance that carries me through life in a way that uplifts and cheers me. I’ve found that over the years my exuberance has helped others feel exuberant too. That is how I want this book to leave you feeling, and I want all of Britain and the whole world beyond to feel exuberant too.

This book is not a light read.

This book is not for lazy minds.

This book is not for those who like to be told what to do and how to live.

This book is not for those who think reading a book can change their lives.

This book is not for mugs, or those who believe themselves to be victims of circumstance.

This book is for those who have the courage to know what’s what and not be fooled by the con of the modern world and all its false prophets.

This book is for those who know that only they can change their lives because it is only they who created their lives as they are in the first place, and for those who know that a book like this can be invaluable to their progress now.

This book is for those who are self-determining.

This book is for warriors.

This book is for you.

Public speaking – everyone fears it – a recent survey found a notable percentage of people would rather find themselves in the casket than have to give the eulogy at a funeral.

At some point in your life you’re likely to be called upon to give an address of some sort – best man speech, 50th birthday speech – a presentation, a pitch – you probably have some sort of public presentation coming up soon you’re scared or nervous of doing.

Or you may have an interview coming up, or a difficult personal conversation to have.

If you had full command of your mind and what it was you wanted to say, full command of your vocal tone, your cadence, your tempo, your face, your facial expression, your posture, your body language… if you had self- confidence and held yourself in sufficiently high esteem… you’d be part of the way there – and the advice in this book is going to give you that.

But to reach your full potential as a communicator, someone who knows how to swiftly gain clarity about the message they want to deliver, who can think, as in be cognitive, on their feet, who can convey their message succinctly and engagingly, whether talking to one person or ten thousand, the remaining ingredients consist of understanding the power of intention, understanding your role and function as communicator, understanding the role of your listener or audience, and perhaps above all understanding presence.

This book will also give you that.

By following the carefully thought-through sequence as prescribed you will become a great communicator, a great public speaker, and of course, a great presence.

Why do you want to manifest things? It’s what we do. We manifest whatever’s happening.

That’s one way of describing how reality works.

Take you. You’re manifesting things anyway. Look around you at your life, (or at how you’re perceiving it, because ultimately this human experience all just boils down to perception) – you’ve manifested this, and mostly from an unresolved unconscious level of self, which is why some or much of it possibly doesn’t sit so well with your conscious self.

Interceding in the process with clear intent for outcomes you wish for, gets it all to sit and roll far better than allowing the unresolved aspects of your unconscious mind to do it for you.

You know instinctively that you can be living life far more fully, with far less self-inhibition, self-doubt, worry, self-limitation, self-criticism, stress and angst, and with far more freedom, courage, originality and overall splendor, magnificence, compatible company and companionship, and access to the resources and wherewithal to support it.

And you’re aware that the opportunities that bring you the resources and wherewithal, and which come to you through the agency of other people, require an increased capacity to conduct all interactions and transactions with confidence and ease.

Yet you’ve experienced setbacks and disappointments at various key junctures along the way, each of which traumatized you to varying degrees, and exponentially compounded the unresolved trauma of the all the preceding knocks. And that has reduced your confidence in your ability and power to make things happen.

And you naturally and rightly want to overcome that.

What makes it challenging for you, is the fact that this compound trauma condition, albeit relatively subtle, has also compounded your allegiance to the prevailing paradigm – collectively subscribed to story – one key element of which is that things will inevitably go wrong and not work out, that life will disappoint and inevitably let you down, not to mention kill you when you reach the other end.

How could you, or any of us, ever have been fooled into subscribing to such a fearful, unproductive story as that?

Based on the wonderful success of A M P E D Volume 1 – affirmation manifesting procedure (electronically delivered), whereby it does all the work and you just sit back and let your life rearrange itself to your liking – automatic wu wei in multimedia format – we’ve taken the accompanying e-book and had me rewrite reformat, repoint and carefully rearrange the material into a straight-ahead e-book for anyone who hasn’t been able or inclined to invest in A M P E D and who doesn’t actually mind putting in the time, attention and lip-and-finger-work into actively writing and reciting the entire life-changing affirmation sequence for themselves.

And when I say life-changing, this isn’t gratuitous sales-patter, I mean it.

‘If I haven’t listened to amped for a few days and something has disturbed my equilibrium I hear a section of amped in my mind which retunes me back to peace.Last week I glimpsed someone negative energy come from their hand and managed to skip around it.The more I listen the better life gets. astonishing Doc, I can’t thank you enough. xx A’

Affirm your way to the life you want.

All you do is follow the instructions to write and/or recite the affirmation script – also a fun, effective, meditative way to still the raging mind – and your subconscious, in cahoots with the Tao, the Great Way, does all the rest for you
