As a student at an international school, where families join and leave each season, Winter has had a lot of practice at saying goodbye. But some goodbyes are harder than others, especially when she learns her best friend is the one leaving. There are other welcoming students at her school, including a new girl who seems just as lost as Winter feels. But can Winter bear to open herself up to another friendship that might not last? Can she learn how to keep her heart from growing cold? Characterized by exciting, fast-paced plots and age-appropriate themes, Lighthouse’s Hi-Lo books are both engaging and easy to read. Short chapters, simple sentence structures, and an accessible format make these books perfect for lower tween reluctant readers. Lighthouse books are written at a 1st- to 2nd-grade reading level with an interest level of ages 7 and up.
