Hans namn var Birger.

Birger Barbaren tar standardbilden av barbarer muskulösa, trögtänkta och älskar att slåss och vänder den till sin raka motsats. Denne baksluge tjocksmock utför gärna hjältedåd, men helst med minsta möjliga hjältemod. Hans äventyr har varit ett stående inslag i speltidningen Fenix sedan starten 2004. Här hittar du en komplett samling av serier från de första åtta åren samt en mängd skisser, outgivna strippar, gästserier och en utförlig triviasektion.

Åke Rosenius har mycket mer än Birger Barbaren på sitt samvete. Han har skrivit och illustrerat i svenska rollspel alltsedan tidigt 1990-tal (Birger kom ursprungligen till vid den tiden, som ett oanvänt utkast för speltidningen Rubicon) och i serieform skildrat spelhobbyn från insidan. År 2000 släpptes hans humoristiska rollspelsserier samlade i albumetThe Handbok Anthology.
