Examine the faces, open the flaps and discover a whole room full of feelings. This playful lift-the-flap book introduces very young children to the rich world of feelings, showing, through a simple story, how many different emotions can exist in the same room at the same time. Each spread invites readers to ask, ‘What is this character feeling today?’ An expressive face hides a surprise flap, waiting to be opened. Lift it to reveal the answer: Alma is happy because it’s her birthday; Daisy feels stressed because she’s late for the party; Fatima is shy because she doesn’t know anyone; and Malik is worried because he can’t find his teddy. As a birthday party unfolds, clear and expressive illustrations guide young readers through moments of excitement, uncertainty, and joy. Children are encouraged to explore facial expressions, recognise emotions and put feelings into words. The interactive flaps spark conversation, nurturing empathy and emotional awareness. Warm, inclusive and gently humorous, this fresh and playful introduction to emotions is perfect for sharing with the very youngest readers, and a reminder that everyone can feel differently, all at the same time.
