Experience the action-packed first book in #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson's laugh-out-loud middle-grade fantasy series like never before—Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians is now in paperback with all new covers!AN ANCIENT RIVALRY REAWAKENS.Everything I'd known about the world was a lie.On my thirteenth birthday, I, Alcatraz Smedry (yes, I got named after a prison, don’t ask) received my inheritance: a bag of sand. And then I accidentally destroyed my foster parents’ kitchen. It’s not my fault, things just break around me, I swear!I thought the sand was a joke until evil Librarians came to steal it. You’re probably thinking, “Librarians are nice people who recommend good books,” but that’s just what they want you to think! It turns out they’re actually a secret cult keeping the truth from you—a hidden world filled with magical eyeglasses, talking dinosaurs, and knights with crystal swords!Or so my Grandpa Smedry claimed when he suddenly showed up to rescue me. So now I have to go with him to invade the local library and get that sand back, before it's used to conquer the world. And Grandpa says how I keep breaking things is actually an amazing talent. There’s no way that can all be true, right? Will I ever make it back home alive?"An excellent choice to read aloud to the whole family. Funny, exciting, and briskly paced." —NPR

Alcatraz must stop them, using the only weapon he has: an incredible talent for breaking things. The Scriveners Bones — In his second skirmish against the Evil Librarians who rule the world, Alcatraz and his ragtag crew of freedom fighters track Grandpa Smedry to the ancient and mysterious Library of Alexandria—guarded by undead Librarians. #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn series Brandon Sanderson continues the epic adventure he began in Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians So now you’ve read all about me, Alcatraz Smedry, and how I was swept out of my life in your normal world and into the fight against the Librarians (jerks!). After being all heroic and stuff in that tale, I didn’t expect to charge headlong into enemy territory: the Library of Alexandria, where I—and my grandpa and my grouchy bodyguard Bastille and her even grouchier mother and some weirdly gifted cousins—would face the Curators (ghosts who will gladly help you check out a book as long as you don’t mind giving up your mortal soul) and some new nasty Librarians who hate our guts...and would be happy to rip them out for us. But none of that comes close to the horror we would have to face if we succeeded in finding what we were searching for… MY DAD! (DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!) The Scrivener's Bones is the second book in this action-packed fantasy series for young readers.

Now in paperback for the first time, featuring all new covers, the Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians middle-grade series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson. I am awesome! So I told you how Grandpa Smedry showed up at my house and said “Alcatraz, come with me to save the world!” (That totally happened. You read the first two books, right?) Well, this is the book where you find out how awesome I really am! I finally make it to the Free Kingdoms—lands outside of evil Librarian control (like where you live)—and there’s a bunch of castles! And dragons! And a giant crystal mushroom where knights hang out! And a huge pig butt you can ride in! (Okay, that’s exactly as not-cool as it sounds.) Plus everyone loves me there because I’m a celebrity! (Don’t worry, I won’t let that go to my head.)Anyway, some bigwigs from the evil Librarians are in town trying to negotiate a peace treaty—and I don’t believe for a second that they actually mean it. I hope I can convince the Council of Kings it’s a terrible idea. Also, Bastille is in big trouble with the Knights of Crystallia because I broke her magic sword (whoops), but if I explain what happened they’ll let her be a full knight again, right? They’d better, or I might break something else important! (Err, knowing me, that’s bound to happen anyway...)

Now in paperback for the first time, featuring all new covers, the Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians middle-grade series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson. It’s good to be the king! So, remember how I told you that the evil Librarians who control your world are trying to take over all the countries they don’t let you know about—the Free Kingdoms? In the last book (you’ve read the first three, right?) I, Alcatraz Smedry, foiled a plot that would have seen the rulers of those countries giving up the kingdom of Mokia for the promise of a cease-fire (which the Librarians totally would have broken in a few years). That means the battle for Mokia continues, and it’s up to me to somehow keep the Librarians from conquering it.That’s going to be super hard, because they have a ton of soldiers and even giant robots, and their powerful weapons knock people unconscious. With the royal family of Mokia all in comas, suddenly that makes me acting king! All I have to fight back with are some teddy bears and my talent for breaking stuff. Plus the dubious contributions of my uncle, Kaz, who gets lost all the time, and my cousin Aydee who is terrible at math. (We’re doomed.) At least Bastille will always be there to get me out of trouble, right? Is my first day as king bound to be the last day of my life? The Shattered Lens is the fourth book in this action-packed fantasy series for young readers.

Now in paperback for the first time, featuring all new covers, the Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians middle-grade series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.Sneaking into the evil Librarian cult HQ!So there I, Alcatraz Smedry, was, tied to an altar made from outdated encyclopedias, about to get sacrificed—wait, you’ve heard that before? Oh yeah, I wrote it at the beginning of my first book. Well, this is the one where that actually happens, I promise!I managed to beat the evil Librarians attacking Mokia (it’s not on the maps the Librarians let you see, so don’t try to find it), but Bastille was hit by some kind of knockout ray and is in a coma. The antidote is locked away in the heart of evil Librarian power—the Library of Congress. I already infiltrated one library, so a bigger one shouldn’t be that hard, right? (Help!)My father has this crazy idea about giving everyone in the world the Smedry Talents, and he’s convinced that ancient books in the Library of Congress hold the secret. But the Talents already destroyed one entire civilization, so he has to be stopped—even if I did accidentally break all the Talents during the battle. (Oops.) And now there’s a rumor that the original evil Librarian, Biblioden, has been spotted, but that can’t be true—he founded his dark cult centuries ago. There’s no way he could be back! The Dark Talent is the fifth book in this action-packed fantasy series for young readers.
