Joël Dos Reis Viegas – illustratör

At the crossroads of genres, blending numerous graphic and scriptwriting influences, this sci-fi adventure by animation director Joël Dos Reis Viegas paints a picture of a society on the verge of implosion, haunted by death, structured by fear, indoctrination, and the deprivation of the most fundamental freedom: the freedom to love who you choose. In far-future Neopolis, a virus has affected the entire population from birth. All sexual relations between genders are strictly forbidden, as they are absolutely fatal. Raised to hate the opposite sex, boys and girls live in a city separated by a wall. But the appearance of N-Dorphin, a revolutionary drug, disrupts the status quo. Kenzell and Lesya, two dissidents of opposite sexes, find themselves embroiled in a merciless clan war and will have to face a reality beyond their control . . .

Urbance Volume 2 plunges deeper into the neon-lit chaos of its dystopian world, where gender segregation and forbidden love fuel rebellion. After stealing the coveted n-dorphin, Lesya earns praise from Sister Amy and becomes an official member of the Deadly Eves. But her rapid rise stirs jealousy, especially from Sam, who uncovers Lesya’s illegal connection. Meanwhile, Kenzell is on the run from COEVO agents, diving into the depths of Junk Town with a bounty on his head. Lesya, now a fugitive herself, rescues him and shares painful memories from her past . . . just as Sister Amy reappears, threatening everything they’ve built. It’s a high-stakes continuation of animation director Joel Dos Reis Viega’s gritty saga Urbance’s, where loyalty, identity, and survival collide in a city that punishes connection.

Urbance Volume 3 escalates the tension as Lesya and Kenzell find themselves cornered by the Deadly Eves—until a surprise intervention by the men’s faction throws everything into chaos. Sister Amy, determined to claim the bounty on Kenzell, clashes with the newcomers, but the arrival of COEVO agents turns the standoff into a firefight. Just when all seems lost, a mysterious figure rescues the duo and leads them to a hidden refuge known as the Den. There, they meet the Goodfellas and their enigmatic leader, Ismaël, who offers protection—but COEVO isn’t done hunting. As the chase intensifies, questions mount: Why are Lesya and Kenzell being targeted so relentlessly? And what secrets lie behind COEVO’s true motives? This volume deepens animation director Joel Dos Reis Viegas’s gritty Urbance mythology, blending urban warfare, emotional stakes, and a growing resistance against a system that fears connection.

Dive into the heart of rebellion as Lesya and Kenzell, now fugitives, rally with the Goodfellas to strike back against COEVO’s oppressive regime. The Den becomes a hub of resistance, but tensions rise when Ismaël reveals a risky plan to hijack a Mediator convoy and expose the truth behind the N-DORPHIN experiments. As the crew infiltrates the city’s surveillance grid, secrets unravel—Lesya’s past ties to COEVO, Kenzell’s hidden lineage, and the real purpose of the virus that tore society apart. With the factions on the brink of war and the Mediators closing in, the duo must decide: fight for freedom or flee again? This volume amps up animation director Joel Dos Reis Viegas’s Urbance mythos with explosive action, emotional reckonings, and a glimpse at the system’s darkest secrets.
