The United States criminal justice system is flawed. From policing, to bail, sentencing, prison reform and parole, the system has systemically provided few opportunities at true rehabilitation for first time drug offenders, individuals coming from low-income communities and people of color. As a criminal defense attorney for over thirty years, Maria D. Ciccone-Fiorentino has witnessed her share of injustice. Her poignant and candid views regarding the criminal justice hope to spark dialogue among colleagues, peers and community leaders in hope to bring opportunities of true rehabilitation for offenders instead of "reform."
