Lovely Florence spends her days gazing at her reflection in the waters of the lake where she lives. One hot summer, as the waters begin to evaporate, all the other flamingos fly away in search of food and a new home. When Florence finally decides to follow them, she finds herself stuck, in more ways than one.

Zanzibar is tired of having stripes like all the other zebras; he wants to stand out from the crowd. When he tries to be different, all the other zebras laugh at his new look, until they realize his strange new outfit might have some advantages.

Limpopo is king of his domain and loves that his family does all his work for him. When his family feels taken for granted and leaves, Limpopo realizes that he should pull his own weight and not always take the lion’s share.

Armadillos don’t have thick skin. After a parrot teases Alice, she decides to leave her nocturnal ways and go out bravely into the day. The alternate world proves challenging as she learns about new dangers that lurk while she normally peacefully sleeps.
