After getting blasted by alien energy, Sophie takes a break from reality on a girls' trip with her mum in Cuba. Their plan is to reconnect and retrace their family history - until eerie visions 'show' Sophie the fateful crash of a UFO in 1960 that has major ramifications on her life. And just as she wraps her head around that, she glimpses a premonition of her friend, Milo, getting shot. Desperate to save him, Soph comes clean about her extraterrestrial extracurricular activities - only for the Cuban Army to arrest her. Apparently, they aren't too fond of American reporters on their soil. What follows is an eye-opening visit from a mad scientist, a jailbreak of intergalactic proportions, and a touching heart-to-heart between Soph and her mum that leaves both women feeling newfound appreciation - and awe - for each other. Scoop: Sci-Fi Witness represents Sophie's most exciting and most emotional investigation yet in which she solves a twisty murder mystery that is once again torn from the headlines. The only way for her to survive is by focusing on the facts, trusting her instincts, and finally being honest about her feelings for Usnavy and Milo.

Sophie Cooper has overcome a lot in the last couple of years, all in the hopes of convincing the world that her dad is not a criminal. She's solved some murders, outwitted a time-traveling mad scientist, gained psychic powers (only to give 'em right back), raised a flying saucer from the Everglades -- even while celebrating her Quincenera, surviving high school, navigating a love triangle, and interning for the local TV news station, WMIA 7. But now Sophie faces off against the deadliest threat yet...herself! When a sinister Sophie doppelganger appears on the scene, spouting fake news and debunking all that the real Sophie has worked so hard to achieve, our intrepid teen reporter must face facts. Will she ever prove her father's innocence? Would anyone believe her anyway? Or have Sophie's investigations only put a giant target on her family, her friends, and that which she values above all else -- the truth?
