A hummingbird is one of the most fascinating birds in the world. The hummingbird''s shimmering colors, its small size, flexibility, and speed create wonder in the natural world. Azule and the White Hummingbird is a story about a white hummingbird, different than other hummingbirds. Mama hummingbirds don''t stay with their babies once they learn how to fly, but white hummingbird feathers are more fragile and do not camouflage well among trees and flowers. Find out how the white hummingbird obtains protection, so that she may experience her life''s desire to travel the world. Azule and the White Hummingbird teaches about hummingbird natural traits, along with geography as the stories evolve. Azule, her magpie-jay sidekick, becomes her protector and companion. Azule and the White Hummingbird: The Birth of the White Hummingbird is the first in a series of stories that tells about the birth of the white hummingbird and how she becomes able to fend for herself in the world. Future stories will follow Azule and the White Hummingbird throughout the world, meeting other hummingbird populations, and seeing the world.
