The best family stories don't come from books--they come from that magical land known as "e;The Kitchen Table,"e; where the coffee's strong, the gossip's stronger, and Grandma's memory is suspiciously selective. Cherry Pie and Fishin' Worms is a hearty slice of that tradition, featuring tales passed down like hand-me-down socks: slightly worn, often mismatched, but full of character.Meet Mable, a redheaded spitfire with more sass than sense, raised somewhere between the hollers of Kentucky and the hills of Southern Ohio. Born in a log cabin in 1902, she shared close quarters with Mom, Pop, four siblings, and whatever wildlife she dragged home. Whether she was launching spitballs at the preacher or sneakily planting snakes in the teacher's lunch pail, Mable's misadventures are equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. This book is a tribute to all grandmas who have ever told a story. So pour a glass of sweet tea, prop up your feet, and get ready to laugh, tear up a little, and maybe reconsider letting your kids near your lunch box.
