SECRETS BURIED DEEPHaving devised and executed the perfect strategy to defeat Demon Commander Gezarius, Werner von Zehrfeld makes a gallant return to the capital alongside his friend, the Hero Mazel. However, there is no time to rest as Crown Prince Hubertus commands him to investigate a secret underground library. The number of books stored there is incredible, but clues to even deeper secrets may lie within. Meanwhile, sinister forces are trying to find ways to use the Hero’s powers for themselves. Is it all too much for the once-average office worker to handle?

In this isekai fantasy, a modern man is reincarnated into a game world as a doomed background character…who can help save the world as the hero’s shadow. And don’t miss the manga adaptation, also from Seven Seas!Someday, the hero Mazel will battle the Demon Lord with the fate of the realm at stake. But until that day...he better be carrying plenty of potions! While the hero is off saving the kingdom, it’s up to Lord Werner—a Japanese office worker reincarnated into the world of a classic RPG—to keep the rest of the world from becoming collateral damage. There’s no hero, luminary, or warrior of light who doesn’t need a friend like Werner! But can he truly defy the flames of fate and change the bittersweet ending of the game?

REWRITING THE TALES OF DESTINYThey may have separate missions, but Lord Werner—a Japanese office worker reincarnated into the world of a classic RPG—and his friend, the legendary hero Mazel, are both working to save the realm in their own ways. While Mazel walks the path of radiance, slaying the Demon Lord’s minions one by one, Werner uses his real-world knowledge to help manage the kingdom’s internal affairs. Managing refugees, fixing the water supply—it’s a lot of work for a supposed background character!

A DIVIDED FRONTWith Lord Werner’s ability to predict the future thanks to his knowledge of the classic RPG in which the world is based, saving the kingdom should be a walk in the park. But politics rarely makes things so simple... Now, along with protecting Mazel’s family and devising plans to defeat the demons, he takes on yet more responsibility by attempting to unmask the villains who threaten to destroy the kingdom from within. Will he ever get a break?

FRIENDS AT THE FRONTIERThanks to knowing the plot of the classic RPG his world is based on, Werner Von Zehrfeld has stood out both on the battlefield and in the office. But every accomplishment is followed with an even greater challenge. The young viscount must now make for the neglected region of Anheim to face off against the Demon Commander, Gezarius. Will he be able to hold off the demon hordes long enough for his best friend, the Hero, to arrive?

TOIL AND TROUBLEWhat once appeared to simply be a video game world brought to life is becoming more complex. Werner von Zehrfeld discovers that the kingdom’s greatest secrets may have something to do with the underground library’s construction rather than the books it holds. Werner has long been underestimated, but when he becomes the target of an assassin and is lured into a trap, maybe it’s a sign that his enemies are starting to take him seriously.
