From the point of view of Voyager I itself, learn about its creation and adventures with realistic drawings of the probe and awe-inspiring illustrations of the space it travels through. They called me Voyager. They told me I was a space probe. An explorer. I wanted to leap into space and never stop . . . I wanted to go everywhere, see everything! The Voyager I space probe was launched by NASA in 1977 to study Jupiter, Saturn, and beyond . . . it has travelled further in space, and survived longer, than anyone ever thought possible! This exciting picture book brings Voyager I's extraordinary solar system-spanning journey to life, from:its creation in NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratoryits launch in a huge Titan IIIE rocketthe key features of its build (including the Golden Record in case it ever meets extraterrestrial life!)the planets and moons it has photographed on its way to cross the heliosphere. Written by award-winning children's author Alastair Chisholm and illustrated by former NASA-trainee Shane Tolentino, Tiny Voyager, Mighty Mission is not only a visual celebration of scientific achievement, but also an invitation to young readers (and their caregivers!) to dream big and explore the big questions of life.
