Walter Dean Goldbeck – illustratör

Complete and unabridged, with 55 full-page plates by Willem van de Velde the Elder, Utagawa Hiroshige and Ludolf Bakhuizen. An American in Japan is drawn into a quarrel over a daughter of the old nobility and the men who mean to use her. Bennet wrote adventure for the American magazines and set this one in the years when Japan was still being explained to his readers. This edition adds 55 plates of coastal painting, among them works by Salvator Rosa and Bonaventura Peeters the Younger, alongside five illustrations restored and coloured for this volume.
