FAKE LOVE, REAL FEELINGSIRL love is an impossible game for aspiring mangaka Uehara-kun and Miyamoto-san. Neither of them has the romantic experience to be able to write a realistic romantic comedy, so now they're living it instead-by pretending to date each other! But matters are complicated by the arrival of Uehara-kun's ultra-cute childhood friend, Love-chan, now a shonen mangaka wunderkind. And Miyamoto-san's dreamboat mentor, best-selling shojo mangaka Yumemigasaki-sensei, is making Uehara-kun feel inadequate in every way. Will Uehara-kun and Miyamoto-san be able to declare their feelings, or will too many mangaka spoil the plot?

Super pessimist Uehara Yuuki and mega optimist Miyamoto Niina are still in the throes of their (completely fake) relationship. And…it’s working?! Both of them have become better mangaka from acting out various rom-com tropes, to the point where some of those heart-pounding scenarios have actually gotten their hearts pounding. They’re now at the level of going on (fake) amusement park dates and doing (fake) karaoke love confessions, but it seems things have grown stagnant. They need a big event to bolster their dreams of becoming mangaka, like…a hot springs vacation? There, one of them might even blurt out a (genuine) confession - unless someone else decides to crash the party!

Dweeby high schooler Uehara Yuuki has created the perfect romantic comedy heroine - she’s bashful, airheaded, and completely chaste. When an editor at Uehara’s dream publisher coldly dismisses his manga story as trite and lacking realism, it sends Uehara into a spiral of despair that pushes him into the path of his bubbly, gorgeous classmate, Miyamoto Niina - an aspiring manga artist herself! Having gotten the similar feedback on her own manga, Miyamoto proposes she and Uehara engage in a fake relationship, since neither of them has any romantic experience. But Miyamoto is far from the perfect heroine Uehara’s concocted, and he certainly isn’t the cocky hero from her story either. Can their wacky relationship turn their manga dreams into reality, or will it lead to even more comic disasters?

Uehara Yuuki and Miyamoto Niina are on a mission to improve their poorly-executed manga manuscripts by engaging in a fake relationship, and so far, it’s worked out better than either of them could have hoped. Now, with the deadline approaching for the prestigious New Artist Award, they’re both hard at work getting their stories drawn - even acting as each other’s assistants. And is it the sleep deprivation, or is Uehara, who’s always preferred 2D girls, having a harder than normal time around cute, funny, and very 3D Miyamoto? Perhaps a school festival, with its ample opportunities for testing out various rom-com tropes, will spark something between the two!
