The evidence for the existence of the Mind as something distinct from the Brain.Betty Shine’s new book centres on the Mind/Brain phenomenon and an argument that has dogged the scientific community for years. With a quarter of a century of experience of mediumship behind her, Betty Shine has the proof required to demonstrate the existence of Mind Energy as something which survived the physical death of the Brain.Drawing on survival evidence through many interesting and intriguing stories, this book is the first attempt by anyone to distinguish between Mind and Brain. Betty Shine can not only see it – she can prove it. From out-of-body and near-death experience to clairvoyant contact and meditation, THE INFINITE MIND will inspire both individuals and the world of science to re-examine their beliefs.

Since her first book, Mind to Mind, was published in 1989, Betty Shine has been inundated with letters of thanks and appreciation. Her extraordinary message has touched hearts and changed lives the world over. As her reputation has grown, it has become impossible for Betty to treat personally the thousands of people who look to her for help. So it is as a natural extension of her talks, lectures and private consultations that she has written Mind Magic, a self-help guide that will enable everyone to experience the benefits of mind energy and healing - for themselves and for the good of others. At the core of Mind Magic is a series of exercises and projects devised, tried and tested by Betty herself. Though all have been designed to develop the imagination and renew mind energy, each has an additional specific aim, ranging from stress management to memory enhancement. Built around these disciplines is a mass of practical advice on vitamin and mineral intake, colour therapy, the power of positive thinking and a host of other topics. A handbook for the soul, a guide to health and happiness, a manual for living in the modern world, Mind Magic is a valuable and singular contribution to New Age literature.

The final book from the world’s favourite medium, who died in 2002, contains 101 original poems about life and commentaries on each one.Betty Shine died in March 2002 of heart failure, a bitter irony for a woman who spoke from the heart and devoted much of her life to healing others.Having spent the last decade of her life committing her thoughts and tales of her incredible experiences to paper, producing 11 popular and often best-selling books, Betty had begun experimenting with a new outlet for her unique philosophy of life – writing poetry. Though she had written heartfelt poetry for many years, it was only in her last year that it was finally being recognized as being really special, when she began getting interest from professional record producers about setting some to music and turning a number of these verses into lyrics. It seemed that the musical instincts Betty had honed as a professional opera singer were showing themselves quite unwittingly in the way she wrote poetry. This final book from Betty Shine collects together 101 of Betty's poems, and is introduced by her daughter, Janet, who worked closely with Betty and has inherited many of her amazing psychic gifts. Janet also provides a short introduction to each poem, which allows the reader a unique intimacy into the background to each one. The collection is at once thought-provoking and inspiring, and presents an honest summary of so many of the thoughts and sentiments that made Betty's books so popular and stimulating. Betty’s wisdom enshrined in these pieces will provide support and solace to her many devoted fans, as well as being the perfect introduction for those who have yet to be touched by the mind magic of Betty Shine.

In Grime, Glitter, and Glass, Nikki A. Greene examines how contemporary Black visual artists use sonic elements to refigure the formal and philosophical developments of Black art and culture. Focusing on the multimedia art of RenÉe Stout, Radcliffe Bailey, and MarÍa Magdalena Campos-Pons, Greene traces the intersection of the visual’s sonic possibilities with the Black body’s physical, representational, and metaphorical use in art. She employs her concept of “visual aesthetic musicality” to interpret Black visual art by examining the musical genres of jazz and rap, along with the often-overlooked innovations of funk and rumba, within art historiography. From Bailey’s use of multilayered surfaces of glitter, mud, and recycled materials to meditate on Sun Ra’s Afrofuturism to Stout’s life-size cast of her own body that recalls funk musician Betty Davis to Campos-Pons’s performative and sculptural references to sugar that resonate with the legacy of Celia Cruz, Greene outlines how these artists use mediums such as molded glass sculptures, viscous wet plaster, and dazzling mannequin heads to enhance the manifestations of Black identity. By foregrounding the sonic elements of their work, Greene demonstrates that these artists use sound to make themselves legible, recognizable, and audible.
